Party City, Big LOTS! going out of business

I was in Party City to get some sterno this morning. But, I noticed that the shelves were kind of slim. The balloons were popping though

Especially Big LOTS! I thought only a few stores were closing.

Never really shopped at big lots, I could careless about that store shutting down.

I would always see them stores in a lot of different parts of Philly.

I used to shop at party city for those cups to make my Jell-O shots back then.

Big Lots was good years ago. I used to go get games from there that were bargain bin but decent priced. Some things for the household could be found there too. All the stores have been closed up for a couple of months now. They shut down mostly over the summer. RIP.

It’s interesting to watch a forum of 70 year olds mourn the financial death of Party City.

Imagine a store with all Chinese made garbage with a tariff on all of the merchandise. Party City was delisted off the stock market years ago.

Dude WTF you talking about people are employees there. Some people go their for various celebrations, when I needed something for my late nephew Party City was there. Nuff respect to Party City!

Why shop there when the dollar general or walmart has it?I've in big lots but nothings ever on sale.
Because not everyone has a car to get to Walmart which is usually in them white neighborhoods that's further out.

There's a lot of party city and dollar general in the hood that's easy to get to riding a bus not being far away from where people live at..

The Party City in Philadelphia are in white neighborhoods.

They got so many Party City stores here in the Dallas area.
I only know of 3 Big Lot stores.
Where I'm at the big lots closed earlier this year and harbor freights moved in.. party city I just knew it was a matter of time...they should never had as many stores n probably should have downsized maybe 15 years ago.. but o well well here we are at the end.. sorry for the folks who have to find something or someplace different! Also this other place called Ollie's has pick up some spots too

Heading to Party City for gift bags tomorrow. Gonna see what else I can come up on.

Guess I will stop in Big Lots and see if they have anything I might want. I need a console of some type for my home office. Maybe they'll finally mark down some of their stuff.

there was a big lots here in ca that closed, and a party city that is following.
the surprise as i read articles is that the container store is also in play for bk

That sucks. I like Big Lots for house odds and ends. Haven't been to Party City in years, but hit up Big Lots a few times a month.

Who the fuck goes in Big Lots? :dunno:

The Container Store has nice things at an exorbitant price. They’re selling 10 cent Chinese made bins for $40 in a store that’s probably 20,000 square feet. It’s not sustainable.

REI shouldn’t exist either. I’ve been to a Dick’s Sporting Goods before. Why are you here?

Shit even the Dollar Stores are having trouble.

Sad state of affairs that people are losing jobs.
Yep, but dollar tree understood it needed to pivot in order to stay in the game! By any means it didnt stop anyone from going there, but what they did was keep the customers inform on how their business was changing..

yes, nice stuff. i go there when i can't find on amazon and leverage coupons/sales. would be sad to see them go
there's still something to be said for being able to try things out in person, but i get it, the business model is unsustainable

I have not seen a Big Lots in years. I thought they went out of business a while ago. I'm going to check and see where the closest one to me is located.
Goodwill and salvation at probably help destroy them. Walmart is priced higher usually.

Also dollar store in a sense? They sold slot of low End stuff.
