I voted for Kamala Harris, though reluctantly, because I thought it was the better choice given the options. However, I don’t fault those who made a different decision. My issues with Kamala run deep. As a prosecutor, she positioned herself as a 'top cop' and made decisions that harmed Black communities, particularly Black men. She oversaw cases where evidence that could have exonerated hundreds of wrongly incarcerated Black men was suppressed, and she did nothing. Her political career has been more about breaking barriers for optics rather than meaningful change—first Indian woman, then Black woman, then Asian. It’s hard to see a true commitment to any particular community or ethnic group in her record.
Similarly, her alignment with Biden brings more concerns. His record, too, has been detrimental to Black America, especially when we look at his role in the 1994 Crime Bill. Together, they represent a brand of politics that often exploits Black votes without delivering real solutions. I’m just not convinced that either of them genuinely serves the interests of Black Americans. So yes, I voted for her, but I won’t pretend she's the answer to our community’s needs, nor do I blame those who looked at her record and opted to go another way
