Oster 76 for general cuts.
Styliner for detail & facial hair removal.
T-Liners for edges & shape-ups.
A good coarse brush, for when you cut & need to brush the hair down (to see how much work is left to do). Not everyone needs this, they got that good baby hair...not my black ass though...
A big handheld mirror for cleaning up the back of your neck (usually the hardest thing for people to do). And a nice sized front facing mirror for the lineup.
Make sure where you cut your hair at has a lot of light. You'll be surprised how much detail you miss in basic light that gets exposed once you out in the real world.
Oil your blades when you first use them to cut, when you feel the clippers get hot (cut the clippers off & brush the hair off/out the blades, then oil...you might have to do this more than once) & when you are done cutting (once again, cleaning the hair off the blades first). You'll be surprised how many people don't do this & get dull blades or neck herpes.
Practice giving yourself a shape up every two weeks first. You need to learn the shape of your head, trust me. You'll fuck up, don't fix it. Pay attention to it & let the hair grow back & clean it up when you do your next two week shape up (unless you zeked the shit out of yourself & gotta go bald...in that case, start over...) .You'll stop fucking up & realizing the dimensions of your head. And if you got head wrinkles, just leave them alone. At this point, you either gonna scalp your whole back head or put long ass bald lines in your head. Trust me on this one.
Oh, and practice using your left hand for lining your neck in the back...it is so much easier. I'm ambidextrous & it took me some time. The whole backwards thing & what-not.
This should help for giving yourself a nice Caesar. Fades & such are a whole another level...
