Earnie Dee Shaver (born August 31, 1944), best known as Earnie Shavers, was an American former professional boxer who competed between 1969 and 1995. A two-time world heavyweight championship challenger, Shavers is known for being one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight boxing history. He scored 68 knockout wins, including 23 in the first round. He holds a 76.4% overall knockout ratio.

RIP...people who fought both said he hit harder than Foreman...Holmes stated Shavers hit him harder than anybody and maintained that position in retirement long after he fought Tyson....Ali stated Shavers is the hardest puncher he ever faced
Thing is he wasnt a super skilled fighter...but probably is the hardest puncher of all time...RIP to a legend

2. During an interview, Larry told Mike Tyson that he still has a knot on his head from that punch 40 years later

Dude was a beast. I'm so glad to have grown up during this era. Boxing was king when I was a kid and we had living legends as heroes. RIP Ernie.
Defense, and stamina, were his main problems, that, and fighting in the toughest era in heavyweight boxing history.
After that punch, Larry Holmes was officially declared Flabby 'n Sick. RIP Earnie Shavers.
I love the story Sylvester Stallone said about Shavers during the making of Rocky III. He said they were sparring and he told Shavers: “Earnie, I know you hit harder than that! Give it to me!” Stallone said Shavers hit him with all his might with a kidney shot and he tried to play it off by walking away. He said the punch was so hard that when he got to his trailer, he threw up. Rest in power to one of boxing’s best.
