Singer R. Kelly has been arrested in Chicago on federal sex crime charges, according to two law enforcement officials.

The 52-year-old was arrested by NYPD detectives and Homeland Security Investigation agents on sex trafficking charges, officials tell News 4, and it is expected he will be brought to New York.

Further details on the case are expected to be announced Friday.

Spokespeople from the NYPD and Homeland Security Investigations declined to comment on the arrest. Calls to the U.S. attorney in Brooklyn were not immediately returned.

Attempts to contact a spokesman for R. Kelly were not immediately successful.

The R&B star has been the subject of different sexual abuse allegations for nearly two decades, with some of the alleged acts dating back to 1998.

Back in February, Kelly was charged with aggravated sexual abuse involving four women, three of whom were minors when the alleged abuse occurred. He pleaded not guilty and was released from Chicago's Cook County Jail after posting bail.

A jury in 2008 acquitted Kelly of child pornography charges stemming from a video showing him having sex with a girl as young as 13, prosecutors claimed at the time. Kelly faced 15 years in prison for that charge, but the young woman in that claim denied it was her and did not testify.

This is a whole different animal right here.

He beat that previous case in Chicago but had the home field advantage.

There's no way in hell he's beating a federal case in New York, especially with his finances being this sketchy.

He would probably need a minimum of 5 million for this case alone.

I don't even see him making bail on this case.

No doubt but one glaring difference between him and the other dudes is they weren't dumb enough to continually tape and flaunt their crimes even after being tried and beating the case.

This pedo idiot was so brazen with it that he was still picking up underage chicks outside of his trial for fucking another under age girl:smh:

I've said this on here b4, it's one thing about rape, but trafficking a minor, and you basically sealed your fate. Typically it's 20 yrs to life depending on the state. And if Homeland went after him or Southern District of NY, they already have what they need to make shit stick. A trial is just a formality.

It was the NYPD and Homeland security meaning the crimes were most likely committed in New York and they therefore have jurisdiction.

With NYC being so close to NJ and other major East Coast cities, stands to reason that he crossed at least one state line and hence, the feds get involved.

It’s a wrap for him.

No doubt.

I suspect he's charged in NYC for bringing the underage girls there from Chicago which is probably easier to prove since he doesn't reside there and was probably staying in hotels and coming/going with these young girls.
