Samsung Will Make $110 for Every iPhone X Sold

Samsung actually has a vested interest in the iPhone X being a huge success. According toThe Wall Street Journal, the company stands to make around $110 from each phone sold, which all told could result in billions more than the company even made on its own most-recent flagship, the Galaxy S8.

Why the windfall? Samsung made the OLED display, NAND flash, and DRAM chips in the iPhone. It’s currently the only company capable of manufacturing these items at the volume that Apple needs, which means Apple has to buy the parts from Samsung.

Their mobile division bleeds money but they make the worlds hardware.

Liar..
Samsung’s Mobile Communications and Networks Businesses, which now comprise its IM Division, pulled in 2.07 trillion won in operating profit on the back of revenue totaling 23.50 trillion won. Considering the April launch of its new Galaxy S8 and S8+ flagships in addition to continued strength in the company’s semi business, things may be looking even brighter for Samsung in Q2 2017.

Ownage

Steve Jobs would have never agreed

Never understand this ownage part. Apple has been relying on Samsung. This isn’t new. Samsung’s makes the best OLED and has been doing that for a while. Apple is diversifying with an LG plant but I don’t think Samsung is “owning” one of the world’s biggest and most profitable companies. Google has been eating good off Apple as well. They all have a vested interest in seeing Apple succeed.

The question becomes, what happpens when Apple invests in another company to make its hardware?

If I were Samsung I wouldn't sell them shit. In 2 years apple will have them in court swearing they invented OLED and Samsung copied it. Samsung should Jack the price up to an even 200 per panel.

Apple will have shitty hardware then.j/k...
It's a scale thing. Apple sales so many phones that they need a company the size of Sammy or Qualcomm to fill their demand

That shit wasn't real tho

Let me know when Toyota Makes headlights for Cadillac (GM)
but it is real, obviously you never ran a business. On the streets they call it "you gotta buy dope from us" business 101 - just cause you eliminate the comp doesn't mean you'll gain all the customers. so why not lay back and provide hardware to everyone and get a cut from every ones pocket while still controlling the market. Samsung don't care about the phone war.

Matter of principle cuz.... Remember them lawsuits?

Officially Reopened

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Thursday reopened a longstanding patent lawsuit related to Samsung copying the design of the iPhone nearly six years ago, following an order of certiorari from the U.S. Supreme Court, according to court documents filed electronically this week.
The court will seek to determine the exact amount Samsung owes Apple for infringing upon the iPhone's patented design, including its rectangular front face with rounded edges and grid of colorful icons on a black screen. The previous $399 million damages judgment was overturned by the Supreme Court last month. If I were Samsung I would give them their 399mil and tell them to come see me over at the OLED counter..:giggle:

we all know apple was the first to do it on the phone tip, Samsung just found a way to stay in business and turn profits while making the number 1 competitor need them in the process, sounds like a good business move to me :dunno:

Samsung Mobile is a separate business than everything else they have going.

Having 100 different phones that don't sell, and 4 different variations of the 2-3 devices that do sell isn't profitable.

Try again.

Apple products have been shitty since Steve Jobs died. Without the innovation of Steve Jobs creativity of products, Apple will slowly keep going downward.
