Did you have one, did you want one, what are your memories of it?
I didn't buy one at launch, but I got one the year after. It is still one of my favorite systems of all time. I remember playing Shenmue after work every night. I could spend hours playing the "Lucky Hit" mini game in that.

Some people hated the controller but I actually loved the grips and feel of it. The first time I booted up Soul Caliber I was blown away. I loved Should Blade on Playstation but Soul Caliberblew it away. Some of my favorite games are as followed:
  • Blue Stinger (weird survival horror game but I enjoyed it)
  • Shenmue (as mentioned)
  • Jedi Power Battles
  • Resident Evil: Code Veronica
  • Sonic Adventure
  • Sonic Adventure 2
  • Power Stone
  • Power Stone 2
  • Sword of the Bezerk
  • The Ultimate Fighter
  • Zombie Revenge
I played the hell out of those games with my brothers. I wish I still had my system, I leet my nephew borrow it and I just basically let him have it and never asked for it again. I guess I got caught up on XBOX (OG) to even bother but I love booting up the Dreamcast on emulators, on my phone, Nvidia Shield TV or on my computer.

I wish SEGA made a Dreamcast 2.

My older cuzz had one, that’s the last system I played consistently on.. would go over my cuzz house who lived next building from mine and play nba 2k for hrs when we had a chance to link up.. his girl who is now his wife use to hate when I would come over cause she was intimidated by my presence and thought I was a bad influence cause she know I lived that single life and always thought when he rolled with me or I was around broads was gonna be in the picture. She would sit in the living room just sitting there mad hoping I would leave and hoping he don’t bounce out to. lol that was the first chick that pretty much separated me from one of my road dawgs due to be intimidating by me. Till this day when we see each other it’s very awkward and sarcastic talking

You could just burn games to a CD-ROM and play them on the Dreamcast…..those were the days!!!
Used to buy games on a cd for $5 back in college

Same.

This is actually the first system I ever had that wasn't second hand.

I ended up giving it to one of my nephews which I regret because I would love to still have it like all of the other systems I've bought since then.

My favorite games were Crazy Taxi and Ready 2 Rumble both of which I wish they'd remake for newer systems.

The Dreamcast effectively introduced the Internet to my household, some people may remember the Dreamcast web browser disk and the eventual Planet Web disks, and I also had a keyboard. Sonic Adventure was amazing, seeing the opening cut scene but NFK 2K blew us away with the amount of detail, gloves, tape, elbow pads, different face masks, and body types and NBA 2K was also mind blowing with it's detail.

Shenmue is probably my greatest memory of those days, a flawed masterpiece, dated now but way ahead of it's time back then. It would also be my first instance of online gaming and what would later be known as DLC.

Today, my actual Dreamcast is in a drawer but it lives on via emulation where it is one of the easiest consoles to emulate and it upscales beautifully, also owing to how beloved it is, many of it's online aspects have actually been preserved. You can still get DLC for many games, the Sonic Adventure website (via the game) has been preserved.

Sega fucked up mightily in the 1990s but they went out on a high note...Such a shame that they couldn't maintain their momentum from the Genesis.

Spent a whole paycheck on this piece of shit back in the day. Ended up selling it for an ounce of weed not too many years later.

2K taking over as the goat hoop game, knocking Live off the throne and Live never recovered.

I still have mine. I collect systems so I have them all. I was big into the fighting game community back then so my dreamcast favorites were Mvc2, Cvs2 and Soul caliber. Then add in power stone 1& 2 plus skies of arcadia. The dreamcast was my favorite console. Sega should renew it with updated hardware and bring back all the games.
