I've dated a formerly abused woman who definitely took some time to begin to live again. Would call me from the grocery store because she wanted to buy something that wasn't on the list. Would ask me about shit like nail color before getting manicures and such. Emotional abuse is worse than physical. No one can put a time on when a victim finally escapes their situation mentally.

So we shouldn't continue murder investigations beyond a specific time frame? If there is enough evidence to convict someone of a crime or hold them accountable monetarily, the fact that it happened 50 years ago shouldn't matter.
I do agree that crimes that go back years are harder to prove especially sexual assault.that doesn't mean potential criminals should be absolved of their crimes.

There's no statute of limitations on murder. In the case of assault can the person at least be alive for the person accused to defend themselves like Hugh Hefner and Rick James?
