I usually don't watch anything trek related so I'm not the best to judge if you're a fan, but I'm almost caught up and I'm loving every second of every episode so far. Smart, well made, adventurous and filled with positive messages. Really solid show.
Very well done episode with care taken to respect the events of "Balance of Terror" BUT the Praetor was a man not a woman. He is referred to as him in the original series episode. They couldn't help themselves, they just had to do an unnecessary gender swap. 
Despite my gripes about the show, this is the best Star Trek in the last 17 years.

I would like to see these people in upcoming seasons. Captain Garth was a fleet captain he should have already either appeared or mentioned.

I had to break out my "TOS" Blu-Ray Boxset that I've had for quite a few years now.
But never really gone through.
I had not seen the "BALANCE OF TERROR" episode in quite a few decades.
Shit took on a whole new meaning.
As will "THE MENAGERIE" episodes.
When it comes to Spock's REAL motivations for "kidnapping" Pike.
And...
Mark Lenard was THAT Dude.
