Based on the recent lackluster performance of Superhero movies and the performance of Barbie of all things and Oppenheimer, the moviegoing public might have had it with superheroes.
So now in TWO YEARS the DCU is going to start? It'll be another train wreck. As long as they keep casting terrible actors in major roles DC ain't going nowhere.
We might just see comic-book stuff on TV. That's it.
Nobody's interested in Anthony Mackie as Cap. Once the magic of the original Avengers went and COVID shut everything down, Chad died, the air went out of the balloon at Marvel.
DC's balloon never had any air to begin.

I trust James Gunn 4 super hero movies and a show all of them hits. He's gonna take his time and put his heart and soul into these projects. Like he did with gotg and peace maker

But consider these actors: RDJ; Chris Evans; Scarlett Jost; Chad Boseman; Chris Hemsworth; Tom Hiddleston; Paul Bettany; Bree Larson; Lupita Nyongo; Michael B Jordan; Mark Ruffalo; Don Cheadle; Clark Gregg; and SAMUEL JACKSON.
I'm not even mentioning "minor" characters such as: Idris Elba; Anthony Hopkins; Gwenith Paltrow; Stellen Skarsgard; Robert Redford; Cate Blanchett; Karl Urban; Natalie Portman...etc, etc
And I know I missed a bunch. DC can't compete with that talent.
As I've said over and over, DC has to find their own lane. They can't keep trying to out-Marvel Marvel.

As for DC, I think they tried to out-Marvel Marvel with inferior actors, writers, directors, and most importantly, scripts.
They have the 2 most well-known superheroes in THE WORLD and somehow they managed to fuck it up.
Their most successful flic was Chris Reeves Superman. They had terrific actors and a good, not great but very good script. Of course that was before superhero movies took over but it was the acting and humorous touches that sold the movie.
This is why Marvel excels. They get really good to great actors that can pull off the comedic bits that really good scriptwriters come up with.
DC gets mediocre to bad actors and their comedy chops ain't cutting it. gal gadot? Seriously? I mean compare that abortion to Cate Blacnchett chewing the scenery to pieces.
Anyway, they have to find another groove. Maybe full-blown comic-type stuff like their TV shows. idk. I just know they can't compete head-to-head with Marvel.
Except Thor #4. Nobody even knows wtf that was about.
I'll give you time to take that back. Marvels is a 9 figure loss. Book it. Hell, I wish Vegas would give me a line on Disney releases. It would be my new crypto.
Blue Beetle will be a loss(Everything DC does is), but whether or not it is a good movie will be another thing altogther(as you know, I liked flash and esra in it). Now I know financial losses are objective while the quality of the movie is subjective, but I wouldn't be surprised if the movie is good to me.
The genre ain't done(and beetle/Marvels isn't any way to judge it). Folks have just lost trust. Many true fans(the alleged 'incels') have been told to fuck off. Trust has to be built back. So I feel your loyalty will be rewarded, eventually.
Gunn will have to nail it with Superman though. But it seems like his office is on the 13th floor of a building built on cursed land. His computer seems to even be possessed sending out emails to talent telling them in shit they ain't in.

I'm just messing around. Folks gamble even harder in the market with leverage, shorting stocks, etc than they do in Vegas. Remember, all that accounting you are referring to they try to explain and hide in their earnings reports. They have to answer to shareholders. Imagine lowballing an earnings report and still falling $360 million short. But like you said, they hid that with 'nothing to see here accounting' but smarter folks see through it.
Speaking of which, if Gunn fails with the first few reboots what does WB do being so much in debt($50 billion)? I clown Disney, but this is some do-or-die shit right here. It's way bigger than folks realize. Will Gunn have to come crawling back to Marvel? Like someone said, Superman might have to be one of the best superhero movies EVER to turn this around.

I haven't watched that movie in years but I remember one thing... it didn't feel like Superman to me.
And I'm a Superman fan growing up. Many claim to be ain't really. Superman represents truth justice American Way. Hope.
I understand your point. But the animated comparison doesn't work. It ain't the same. And Supes still ain't kill Shazam. And I GURANTEE McDuffie would not have co signed Snyder version Supes killing Zod like that.
And I like Cavill and I like Snyder.
JLA animated violence wasn't the same as Snyderverse. Actual legend comic book writers who helped create that character didn't like Snyder version decisions.
Superman ain't killing Zod. I understand exactly what Snyder was doing trust me. But he ain't earn that. It was just bad writing. That isn't him. And Pa Kent ain't raise him like that.
