They really need to re-imagine Superman, he's boring. Same ol' shit. Each series or movie, it looks like a bootleg copy of Christopher Reeves' Superman.
They don't need to reimagine him, they need to get him right for the first time In ages. There's nothing boring about Superman when they actually let him be Superman instead of some sad brooding emo alien with an actor with as much range as a plank of driftwood like man of steel, have him actually save people and be a beacon of hope and goodness and he'll stand out against all the sarcastic asshole superhero and the stoic/strong silent types.

The donnor films are classics but we've never seen Superman done properly post the era of actual convincing CGI. I'm cautiously optimistic as a big fan of James Gunn

Thanks for your opinion, but I disagree. These Superman movies been so trash lately, maybe they should bring back George Reeves:

Donner Superman was the best.

Superman Returns could have been a decent film if they didn't try and make Brandon Routh's Superman do an impression of Donner's/Reeve's Supes.

I actually like Superman Returns for what they tried to do, but the whole mopey brooding, ex-boyfriend stalker shit in that film along with what we saw with Snyder's take kills the whole Superman vibe.

One of the coolest Superhero film moments I remember experiencing in a movie theater was the scene in Superman Returns where he saves the plane from crashing. I hope Gunn's version of Superman is more that than it is Snyder's where a whole city is destroyed and Superman couldn't give two fucks about adding damage to the city.

Yeah returns is a classic compared to Snyder trash and that plane scene may he the single best piece of action in any Superman movie.

I think we're mostly agreeing, I too think the new Superman movies suck lol returns was okay compared to all the new Snyder trash.
Yup, bruh. But what I'm thinking is a goth Superman like The Crow, darker tones. Superman grew up in the city and not the country; he grew up in homeless shelters. He was mired and reared in chaos and he has to process that as he goes about his duties. Also, there is no Daily Planet; newspapers are obsolete so he had to make money through his superpowers. So, he's trying to do good, but he also has to to make money: so he's torn.

If you're going to quote me, maybe use the whole quote lol now go back to hating everything and making snarky remarks you miserable bastard lol
the qualification was not included in consideration that

making superman a deadbeat dad while
having him fly aN ISLAND of kryptonite into space as the climax of the movie...

is not better than any movie version of Superman not named Superman IV

Still beats emo non heroic, sad sap killer/city destroyer who let his dad die for no reason lol Snyders version was an offense to the character at its core, singers was not great by any means but at least the portrayal of Superman didn't betray everything the character stands for.

But ultimately yeah, they suck lol
