A Florida teen has been arrested after allegedly shooting his parents to death, and calling 911 to report the killing — while seeking prayers from the operator, per police.
The victims, 44-year-old David Lee and 45-year-old Brandi Smith, were found slain in their Middleburg, Fla., home on Monday, Aug. 4, after authorities responded to a shooting reported by their son, the Clay County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
Trevor Lee, who was the one to call 911 from a church to allegedly admit to shooting his parents, was arrested on murder charges, per police.
In a redacted 911 call since obtained by WTSP, the caller alleged to be Trevor is heard telling the 911 operator that he was at the church because he needed to pray. He also allegedly said he had emptied his pockets, threw his backpack away from him and was waiting in the "middle" of the church.
He then requested the operator pray for him, per the call records
I will definitely be praying for you, son," the operator responded, WTSP reported.
Lee reportedly told the operator what happened, but the details were redacted in the call report due to the pending investigation. The operator managed to keep him on the line for 10 minutes until officers reached him and made an arrest.
