Shalaine Foster went along with her twin Shaina to 85-year-old Paul Aronson's Murray Hill apartment, where they tied him up and stole cash and credit cards.
Aronson was found 20 hours later, still tied to the furniture.
The sisters had faced up to life behind bars on the top count, kidnapping.
Shaina's lawyer Theodore Herlich said his client has done well in classes at Rikers Island and hopes to take her education further when she's released.
"She accepted full responsibility for her conduct and I hope that she uses her academic skills, which she clearly demonstrated, for good in the future," Herlich said.
