Texas man vandalizes own truck with anti-police messages, blames it on Black Lives Matter activists: cops
Scott Lattin was arrested at his Texas home Friday on a misdemeanor charge of making a false police report.
A Texas man who received $6,000 from sympathizers after he claimed miscreants vandalized his truck with anti-police messages has been arrested after authorities say he scrawled the graffiti himself.
Scott Lattin was hauled away from his home in handcuffs Friday by police who say he lied earlier this month about how the "Black Lives Matters" messages and expletives were spray painted on his white pickup truck.
The disabled veteran had blamed vandals, telling Fox 4 News his truck was targeted because his family visibly backed law enforcement officers.
He had "Police Lives Matter" written on the rear window of his car and blue ribbons tied around his property to show his support.
"They need support so they can feel what they do, putting their lives on the line every day, is worth it," Lattin told the news station last week.
The father said trespassers caused $5,000 worth of damage after he said they tore off the glove box, ripped up the seats, stole electronics and spray painted messages like "F--- your flag, your family, your feelings, your faith."
Police believe Lattin scrawled "Black Lives Matter" all over his truck to collect insurance money.
Dozens of donations started pouring in for the family through a GoFundMe page after the news station broke the story.
Many were police officers or relatives of cops.
It raised about $6,000 before it was taken down.
But police now believe he made the whole thing up to collect insurance money after noticing discrepancies in his story.
There was no damage to the inside of his truck when police arrived to take the initial report, but they suddenly appeared when reporters came to interview him, Whitney Police Chief Chris Bentley told Fox 4.
Lattin had written "Police Lives Matter" on his own truck. He said that lured out anti-police vandals.
"Very disturbing," Bentley said. "We have so many groups that have participated and come to Whitney, Texas of all places to help these people — and for them to have been deceived? It's just wrong."
Lattin was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of making a false police report.
He told Fox 4 he didn't vandalize his own truck.
"That's absolutely not true. Absolutely not true," Lattin said.

Actually, predominantly, there have been more reported types of 'fake-hate' hoaxes perpetrated by African-Americans and gay activists than European-Americans.
The most recent just earlier this week when a black student at the University of Buffalo placed up "Blacks Only" and "Whites Only" signs near water-fountains.
No need to thank me "Le Roy" for enlightening you. It's actually very entertaining. :-D

I don't see the point you are trying to make. Seems like the black student is a trouble maker. Or plain stupid. At least he gave whites their own fountain to drink from. But what he did in no way compares to blaming a prominent organization that is against police killing of innocent black people. And the potential to start a race riot. Are white people going to start a riot because they can drink from their own water fountain?

Ignorant white trash. I was born in Texas and call it my home but I am sick of this trash continuously giving my state a bad name. I truly believe we now have more of these types than Al, MS and WV combined. Maybe it's just because Texas is such a large state but I live here and see it every day. It's either racists bigots homophobes gun-nuts or some other fringe fascist group on the news. I know this sounds like a rant because it is. I am white and pissed I can only imagine how black people must feel.

JD, I migrated to Texas 10 years ago and I can tell you that from experience this is one of the best places to live in the country! I have not encountered any negativity, racism or police harassment in the time that I have lived here. There is ignorant white trash everywhere, as there are ignorant black people everywhere. As long as there are people like you in this world, we stand a chance. Thank you.
