Since the first trailer broke the internet, fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Suicide Squad, Warner Bros.' upcoming super villain movie. After the mixed response to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, moviegoers have been especially curious how Suicide Squad will play out. A lot is riding on this movie regarding how fans will receive the DC Extended Universe as a whole. If Suicide Squad is a success, Warner Bros. may have finally set up DC's shared universe. If the movie is bad then they’ve got a lot more work ahead of them. Luckily for them, that doesn’t seem the case, if initial reactions are to be believed.
A test screening of Suicide Squad was reportedly just held, and fans have taken toTwitter to voice their opinions. The result is largely positive, with fans celebrating the characters and maintaining it is the best entry in the DCEU to date. It "met expectations" for a lot of fans and Harley Quinn, The Joker, and Deadshot seem to be getting a lot of the praise.
Fans are particularly praising Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn, citing it as one of the highlights of the film. So it looks like her potential solo film is pretty warranted, and will presumably move forward.
Of course, we can’t forget about Jared Leto’s Joker, arguably the biggest question mark in the film. It seems he could end up being a controversial figure in the film, but lots of fans recognize he fits in well within Suicide Squad.
Based on these reactions, Warner Bros might finally have the DC hit they've been looking for. Keep in mind, though, that Dawn of Justice's and the Fantastic Fourreboot's initial reactions were also positive. These are all tweets from lucky movie goers who aren't critically trained. Though, that's not saying that any of them are wrong.
Either way, Suicide Squad looks to be an exciting film that we should all judge for ourselves, on August 5.
