Good Post, I feel you too. I believe that the Govt, can help out, but sometimes the people you are talking about don't even try to go half way. I even believe that in the Bible it speaks about the "Harvest being pletiful, but the laborers are few." Meaning, you can get rich, and He will make you rich, but you got to go out in the fields and work and make yourself ready to be rich.

Too many times, I think it starts in the school. This whole "acting white" when Black students tease other Blacks who actually want to go to school and learn and try to get an education. Along with the "stop snitching" and you have your self a recipe for continued dependence on the govt to give you a hand.

Rest assured, there are plenty of Rednecks out there that are not liked by whites, even the ones just one step away from poverty. Nah, I'm just fuckin' with ya. But seriously, I agree - to a point - with both you and the OP's statements. We are, quite frankly, the only race that struggles to even know our heritage, let alone own it.

We are struggling to find out our past, while Caucasians, Arabs, Indians, and Asians all know their cultural backgrounds. They have a history they can look up freely and not find something omitted. We, on the other hand, have to basically pull teeth to get info on our history, on our culture.

And the problem doesn't stop right there, most of our youth don't WANT to know about our history until it's damn near too late while Jewish, Middle-Eastern, and to an extent, Asians have it drilled into their heads by the time they hit puberty where they come from, who their people are, and what they've been through. Most of all, when you try to instruct the youth as to what the world sees you as, they take it with a grain of salt, as if to have a "Well, that was then, this is now," mentality. When the truth of the matter is "That was then, why is it still happening now?"
