The biggest reason why politics always was and will forever be on bullshit is that it is all about popular opinion and seeking to do the wishes of the masses. Not to say that politicians really do this, but campaign wise, that's what it's all about.
The biggest problem with this is:
1)The general public isn't informed or involved enough on the many of the subjects government has to handle in order to base decisions on their will.
2)This creates nothing but pandering to the ideas of the ignorant or the uninformed.
3)Whoever the public elects might have no idea how to create positive change, this person won off pandering, not by having the best solution.
4)Even if the person who is selected knows the best solution, they may have to go against popular opinion to do what's right, which will normally end in their demise.
I don't know the solution to the problem, but this is the problem I see with every presidential, government and local election.
