Looked into it and main shooting wrapped up in March.

It’s scheduled to debut later this year with 6 episodes and it’s looking like season two has been approved.

The Walking Dead: Daryl
Official Trailer
Debuts September 10, 2023

The teasers I posted earlier looked interesting.

But this trailer got me doubting. Not sure where they going with it cuz I was expecting something else.

I might just let all 6 episodes debut and binge them all at once.

Playa - here's Dan Fienberg's early review for the series on this week's episode of the TV's Top 5 podcast. I listened to it yesterday while driving ... fast-forward to near the end of the show and listen for it at the 1:27:15 mark ... sounds like it's off to a good start ... click on the Strike Updates plus Finale Fever episode in case it gives you a drop down index of episodes ...

Season One
Episodes 1 - 2

Started watching these this morning. I had noticed these two episodes were 1.5hrs long each. They equate to a 2.5hr movie if you ignore the commercials.

If you payed attention in season one of “The Walking Dead”, the series finale of “The Walking Dead” and “The World Beyond”, you will have a understanding and some clue on why Daryl is in France.

The series was originally supposed to be “Daryl and Carol”, but the actress who plays Carrol could not meet the scheduling demands of filming on location in France and whatever other work she is doing in the US. So Daryl is the main character.

Daryl gives a somewhat insight at the beginning and later in episode 1 on what he was up to that got him to France, which follows up what was discussed during the Walking Dead series finale. I suspect a entire episode will be dedicated on exactly what went down or it will be shown in small pieces in one of the future episodes.

We get introduced to Acid Walkers, deadly to the touch.

Daryl gets himself caught up with some Nuns at an Abbey. And winds up being the protector of some annoying kid these Nuns think will be the next Messiah.

It’s interesting see these French mofos running around using 19th century firearms unlike what we are used to seeing in other Walking Dead episodes. It actually makes better sense for them to be using them with the timeline this series is under.

Sisters Isabelle and Sylvie team up to assist Daryl to travel up north with the kid being he does not know French or the route.

We get some insight on Sister Sylvia’s past pre-apocalypse in episode 2. We got to see the apocalypse start in France. Nice Easter Egg to “Train To Busan”. Episode 2 gave props to the late Robin Williams.

We found out who Laurent’s mother is. No information on his father at this time.

I’m not sure what is up with Daryl, he seems distracted cuz he has been making some mistakes and bad decisions in these two episodes.

So far, the series is moving at a good pace. It has a number of Christian religious references and visuals thru-out it so far that is interesting.

My DVR shows the next two episodes as 1 hour episodes, I might let two episodes stack up before watching again…or just wait to the final four to debut and watch them all together.

Looking forward to them.

Season One
Episodes 3 - 5

I was gonna hold out until the season finale. I saw that the finale will be a 2 hour episode so I decided to binge these now and knock them out.

Starts off with the team enroute to Paris. They take a detour and end up meeting some nutjob who made himself a Walker Orchestra. Daryl looked at it and was like Fuck this mofo and told them they are leaving.

The group makes it Paris and rendezvous with the group expecting them. We get the debut of “Airbourne” Walkers who slam into the ground then get up to attack.

The Paris Catacombs are seen along with the destruction of Paris from the Dawn of the Apocalypse.

For the gay agenda trackers, trans/gays debut in an underground nightclub scene. If you are familiar with French nightlife, it should not be a surprise.

Daryl has a new weapon he has mastered with the ball/chain mace. And “Old School” Daryl finally comes back. Been years since we seen him go hardcore with someone.

Genet was shown having her lab do some experiments on Walkers. It’s unknown at this time if what she is doing is related to the after credit scene in “World Beyond”, but from what we have seen it highly looks like it.

We found out in flashbacks on how Daryl got to France. And he was correct he made bad decisions. Interesting information was revealed which should lead us into future spinoff series/movies.

One thing is clear is that they are upgrading this franchise to “28 Days Later” level.

This series proves it.

Gonna let the season finale debut and watch it next week when I’m home, definitely looking forward to it!
