Possibly. Funny how when it was mentioned last year that Gavin Newsome may have been auditioning to get this spot in this election with his debate vs DeSantis some said that the thought was dumb as hell.
He's been leading in the polls for the last several months even before Biden had that performance at the debate. So this is a last ditch swing for the fences to maintain the presidency or at the very least not also lose both parts of Congress.
From when Biden ran in 2020 he was hesitant to reverse those taxcuts on the wealthy. I do appreciate the IRS getting some funding to go after unpaid money from rich though in spite of Republican efforts to demonize and end it.
