Facts.
A candidate proudly and loudly held an open Klan/Nazi rally on national television and won. There really doesn't need to be more investigation than that.
What's sad to me is that people got so mad about the jokes thrown around that rally that they ignored the straight up racism and hate speech coming from the actual legitimate speakers.
If you want to Wednesday morning quarterback what could have been done better, then fine. But at the end of the day, we gotta stop blaming Dems for failing "fundamentals" and acknowledge that these people voted for an absolute shitstorm of a candidate with a horrifying agenda and support staff around him because
they fucking wanted to.
A majority of this country (mostly white people) that bothered to vote looked at the board, saw and heard someone say that they were literally going to do things that fucked people over, and decided that it wasn't their problem. They doubled down on hate and fear mongering, and actively chose to be worse people. There was no accident about it.
I guess we have to literally have the country circle the drain before these people think, "Maybe these are bad ideas we are floating..." but the truth is, I don't think they will ever be accountable.
I think it's time we lean into the reality that the country is actually full of shitty people doing shitty things, and just figure out how to deal with being in that shitty situation. I'll keep doing my civic duty, mainly to spite the people that don't want me to do that, but I won't anticipate that producing a positive result. When people show you who they are, believe them. I done with even remotely believing that people will try to be better.
