Wow y'all been busy. I see I've been tagged a few times. There are too many pages to go through so I'm not going to even try. We made it through Trump once, hopefully we survive again. There won't be any guardrails like there were the last time though. Hopefully Biden goes rogue and forgives more loans to help people out with their credit and stuff. Hopefully dems are able to put something, anything in place to provide some bit of protection for the rest of us.
I won't lie and say I'm not worried. If the GOP rolls back the ACA, my preexisting conditions may make me ineligible for heath care. Social security may not be there for me or my loved ones. I'm in a red state so if there is a disaster I can probably get FEMA and disaster relief, but then we've all seen Black areas underserved even when aid is available. Blue States, Puerto Rico and other territories, hold your own nuts. My job relies on funding the GOP is usually against, so I don't know how that will work out. Also I'm worried about a few people whose jobs are kind of iffy and I'm worried about their pensions still being there.
That said, the folk gloating, pray it doesn't come back to bite you in the ass. The pain won't be swift like the overturning of Roe. It will be slow with companies hiring and promoting fewer black people. Wages becoming stagnant. Prices going higher. Fewer opportunities. EPA regulations rolled back so we can be poisoned overtime. No attempt to solve climate change. No attempt at gun control. Our history and the sins this country committed against us being erased. Y'all said Black people should do for ourselves without the government, that is all but illegal. You can't have Black only programs, thanks to AA being overturned.
I don't want to hear about your kids being poisoned. Your family being denied healthcare. Your friends or family being deported. You being discriminated against. Palestinians being killed. Reparations not being given. You had a chance of having someone in office that was for protecting and expanding rights, who if they weren't yet in agreement who could be persuaded, or someone who will tell you straight up to go kick rocks. You decided you liked kicking rocks.
For everyone else, buckle up. I'm not sure how we had bigger turn out with fewer votes overall, but it is what it is. The American electorate is stupid, short sighted, racist and misogynistic to varying degrees. I had hoped knowing the damage Trump and the GOP will do could overcome that but I guess not. Telling people "I told you so" when shit hits the fan isn't as much fun when we are all sinking on the same ship, but I'll take what I can get.
