Yeah elections are usually pendulum swings from the incumbent. People are usually voting for a change, especially in environments where the economy is depressed. We had record, insanely low interest rates of 0.5 - 1.5% from 2008 to 2020. money was easy to borrow etc. The black swan event of the pandemic and supply chain issues, quantitative easing etc caused the rapid increases in borrowing costs and inflation that killed a LOT of people....people experienced real pain although things started to turn around recently and is currently on an upward trajectory....this wasn't communicated enough.

You add those factors to the surging White nationalism , aspiration of whiteness and proximity to whiteness from all those other POC's and some self hating sambos, you add the misogyny, xenophobia and the GOP's ability to stir division amongst us with wedge issues. and it was an almost impossible task that even a damn near perfect campaign couldn't overcome.

Ok landslide is a stretch, but polls had her taking this thing. That seemed to be the talk leading up to last night.

As for basic needs, look, I’m in the DMV. One of the highest earning and educated areas, if not the highest, in this country. My wife and I make more than enough to live comfortably here but there are people here that are struggling to make ends meet. To find their next meal. Lines at food banks from churches are wrapped around blocks. We cook meals for our neighbor up the street who lives with her adult child that doesn’t work and is on food stamps and SSI. Contrary to what you’re saying, a ton of people here are getting assistance one way or another. Food insecurity exists here and that’s happening HERE. What chance does a Kentucky stand? A Tennessee? An Indiana? Places where they’re not afforded the comfort and luxury of what we have here.

People are really struggling out here and the more I talk to democrats, the more I see just how disconnected they are from what’s actually happening in these streets. We might be the global leader but that moniker isn’t for the masses. Many live in poverty under that mantra and have done for some time now.

Sidenote: many of them are obese and fat because their meals come from Dollar General and the like. Fresh food is a luxury to these folks. They can only eat what they can afford, which when every little, is more times than not highly processed junk food.

This is a reasonable response, brother. I still disagree because I believe the left wing is the best move for this country if people can just put aside whatever bigotry they may have.

Look, I understand all of these issues but they're just going to get worse with Trump in there. Hell these issues got worse with Reagan and Bush and they weren't half as bad as Trump will likely be.

I'll just say this to finish, the shit we will likely lose with a Trump administration is so much more important than being uncomfortable with Democrats respecting somebody's pronouns. I may be uncomfortable with someone's lifestyle but I'm not willing to give up rights and progress just to spite someone especially if they're not hurting me.
