I dont watch morning joe what does moving to the middle mean in their case?
so Joe and Mika has been very critical of Trump over the past 8 years after being friends with him prior to that (he used to call up to their show live often) but Mika especially had a certain disdain for him and she was very blunt and Joe as well. The whole tenor of the show has changed now and they have been more "down the middle" in terms of criticizing democrats and also going in on Trumps cabinet picks, but it's not as much "outrage" as it used to be. They have the same contributors, but it just feels different. Whats funny is that it's like it happened overnight. Literally the day after the election, they got it together.

I don't know these people but in general I'm seeing some leftists think the answer is moving towards the middle while others think the answer is to move further left. I'm guessing the show you are talking about has made the decision to move to the middle.

I have a love/hate relationship with this show and tune out for stretches at a time, but I caught a couple of episodes after the election and noticed the shift in tenor as well. What struck me was that on the Wed show the next morning, long time contributor Mike Barnacle, essentially said enough with trying to please everyone, particularly when it comes to the the trans/gay shit. Without directly saying it, he was like the party and too many people in general have gone way too far left and jumped the shark. Enough is enough and Dems better get their heads out of their asses and start speaking to the regular folk that make up this country and vote. I have never heard ANYONE on that panel broach the subject so directly until that moment.

The media really dropped the ball this election. Trump was doing some Shystie stuff all over the place and he barely spoke about it. So the media deserve this for not being the third wheel in America. MSNBC try to do some things, but they didn’t do enough. Because if Trump was a black man, they would be Wall to Wall talking about his failures all over the. I actually watch more international news to get the correct news right now then watching American news and that’s a damn shame.

How is the international narrative crafted that is different from the views of The NY Times or WSJ?

Two things. First, the network itself has been slowly drifting towards being more centrist. And, to be fair, they never actually said or implied they were the voice of liberalism or anything. They always touted themselves as being the voice of truth (in opposition to the lies and misinformation that others spread). It just so happens that the biggest spreader of misinformation was a giant conservative squawk box, so they basically became a liberal viewpoint by default.

Second, I'm pretty sure that the network has consistently put pressure on them to be more "even" in their coverage and viewpoints. Trump winning the election gives the powers that be more leverage to apply that pressure to them, whether it's fear of Trump's retaliation or just making some effort to appeal to other demographics.

And honestly, if you can't sell being anti-Trump/anti-neocon to the voters in enough capacity to get a positive result, I can see an argument being made that you shouldn't keep trying to do it to the viewers.

If they are anywhere near as tired as I am of dealing with this bullshit, I can honestly see them not burning the emotional energy required to get a head of steam going about this on a daily basis. Might as well just start learning to roll with it, at least for the time being.

Yeah...they got some act right about them now and as this goes on, and if these picks are confirmed, that will slip away and they will start back blasting Trump again, but i think they are trying to be respectful of who the people "picked". I think show actually flows much better because Joe and Mika aren't constantly talking over each other. My issue with them has always been, why are there so many people on their panel that early in the morning. You get Rev. Al up at 6:00am just to say a few lines? :smh:

I think they would do well with 3 or 4..Get Kattie Kay, Lemire, Geist and keep it moving. You dont need 15 people on a panel that early in the morning and they dont get to talk half the time.

Going to get my own morning show and we gonna have @DC_Dude @easy_b and @Camille on early in the morning. We'll bring @4 Dimensional and @playahaitian on in the afternoons.

It’s like the people who runs the meteor have a lock on the personalities in a lot of the shows and this goes across CNN and MSNBC. The only person seems like they got a little freedom is Joy and Rachel. This is why I watch a lot of international news because that’s when I get most of my information from. The media is wondering why they’re viewership is dropping well you not reporting actual news you let Trump get away with murder because if Trump was black, they would have been talking about him 24 x 7.

I'm not sure how much freedom Joy has because they may treat her like Melissa Harris-Perry when this is all said and done.

What does it mean to be centrist on a corporate news network? Or even a moderate?

Does he have ANY IDEA how research works? The amount of money that’s poured into research?

How you can’t just stop and start research at will?

Has the clown done even the most basic dry/wet research at any acedemic institution?
Yeah folks don't know....and truth is if they re not in the field they re not supposed to know.

I don't tell the electrician how the electric in my house works. I m not an electrician.

They need to let the folks who are in the field and experts be experts

A real leader knows his role.......During the Bin Laden raid Obama's role was to be in the chair in the corner while the dude with the decorated military medals needs to be in his chair running the show.....that's real leadership knowing when to STFU and stay in your lane.

Research takes scientist to manage it....not some dude who happened to come out of some Kennedy's crotch who is unqualified.

Dems have a huge opportunity here to redefine themselves. I like some of the things that Tim Walz was saying and HOW he was saying. He was speaking plain to people. No more of this "adult in the room" BS. This is how Americans need to be spoken to because we're stupid as a collective so no more talking in "code". They need a Firebrand as DNC Chair. @DC_Dude I know Harrison is your guy, but the messaging just aint working. He's playing too nice. Gonna have to spoon feed them. Need to get a James Carville type out here in front of people to let them know to get these stupid idiots out of our government.

Yeah the DNC needs to identify someone with zero ties to Obama. You know I am going to always root for my home state brothers and Jamie did a great job (raised the most money ever), but a clean slate is needed. It will be interesting who is chosen though....

The names I've seen thrown out are: Ro Khanna, Rahm Emanuel (hell no), and . Max Rose......

RFK Jr reviewing resumes for top Trump health jobs, sources say

NEW YORK (Reuters) -Robert F. Kennedy Jr, the former independent presidential candidate, is reviewing candidate resumes for the top jobs at the U.S. government's health agencies in Donald Trump's incoming administration, a former Kennedy aide and a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday.

Kennedy, of the famed political family, has been asked to recommend appointees for all regulatory health agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services and the Food and Drug Administration, said Del Bigtree, who was director of communications for Kennedy's campaign and remains close to the former candidate.

A source familiar with the matter, who declined to be identified, echoed that Kennedy had taken on that role.

"The American people re-elected President Trump by resounding margins because they trust his judgement and support his policies, including his promise to Make America Healthy Again alongside well-respected leaders like RFK Jr," Trump-Vance Transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in an emailed statement.

In August, Kennedy, an environmental lawyer who has spread misinformation about vaccines, ended his presidential campaign and endorsed Trump in exchange for a role in Trump's administration focused on public health. Kennedy says he is not anti-vaccine but for more rigorous testing of vaccines.

While he is looking for individuals to fill administration jobs, Kennedy could himself still take an official position in Trump's administration or serve in an advisory capacity, according to Bigtree.

Howard Lutnick, co-chair of Trump's transition team, told CNN before Tuesday's presidential election, however, that Kennedy was "not getting a job for HHS."

Bigtree said Trump wanted to see Kennedy's ideas for reducing chronic illness produce results within two years, especially in U.S. children.

Kennedy last week said he would recommend fluoride be removed from public water supplies, falsely claiming on X the chemical is associated with numerous health issues including bone fractures and cancer. The American Dental Association says the decades-old intervention reduces tooth decay by more than 25% in adults and children.

"President Trump is giving him two years to show success," Bigtree said. "President Trump is keenly interested in the selections that Bobby Kennedy thinks would get the job done."

Kennedy will recommend scientists and doctors who "don't have any conflicts of interest with the pharmaceutical industry when it comes to the departments that are going to be dealing with drugs and vaccines," Bigtree said.

Bigtree, an anti-vaccine activist, is chief executive of MAHA Action, a new organization named after Kennedy's Make America Healthy Again pledge that Bigtree said would also propose appointees to Kennedy.

Kennedy is being assisted by daughter-in-law Amaryllis Fox Kennedy, his former campaign manager, and investor Omeed Malik, the source familiar with the matter said.

This. Anyone that works in health policy knows this. How can you reduce chronic diseases when people don't even have access and you want to get rid of the ACA that allows people to get preventible care?
