With Donald Trump’s return to the White House only days away, Kamala Harris' staff packed into her office to watch her sign the interior of her desk, a tradition performed by her predecessors for decades.

Harris made history as the first woman, Black person, or person of South Asian descent to serve as vice president.

Harris' signature joins several former vice presidents, including Mike Pence, Joe Biden, Dick Cheney, Al Gore, Dan Quayle, George H. W. Bush, and Harry Truman, all of whom signed as they were preparing to depart Washington.
