Video shows man allegedly being kicked during NYPD arrest in Brooklyn
Cellphone video caught the police take down of DeShawn Jones, which occurred on Liberty Avenue and Hemlock Street early Sunday morning.
“I’m standing there and it seems like a half of the precinct came,” Jones said. “They had somebody in the car who got robbed and they say we fit the description.”
A neighbor captured this video of NYPD stopping Jones, questioning him about a robbery crime he claims he never committed.
But on the video, the arrest involved several officers needing to handcuff Jones, and one can be seen kicking him in the head.
He was then carried off to a patrol car where he told officer that his leg was broken.
“They grabbing on me like ten cops on me,” Jones said. “They kicked me in the face. My kids are scared to look at me and come to me.”
Jones says the poor treatment continued after the arrest. He says pain medication caused him to vomit in his cell and officers didn’t seem concerned for his health.
“I’m sitting in the precinct and all the cops were laughing at me,” Jones, who was eventually cleared of charges said.
“It’s crazy I just thank God they didn’t kill him,” Shaquira Murray, Jones’ fiancée said.
His fiancée contacted NYPD internal affairs and as of now– they have no idea what will happen to the officers they say are targeting him along his street.
This isn’t the first time. Two years ago he had a similar run-in with police.
NYPD told PIX11 they’re reviewing the video and that it’s part of an internal investigation.
