I saw it Thursday night and I give it a C+

I thought Dawn and Rise of the apes were better films. War closely followed the biblical story of Exodus. Caesar is Moses and never makes it to the promise land.

I'm calling a lot of people "Donkey" from now on... the CACs in the audience thought the Deray ape in the blue vest was funny but I didn't get it.

That virus was the real threat (Small Pox for native americans)

I hear they're making a 4th film too.

I'm sure it will do well. People don't go watch a movie about monkeys taking over the world for the story line and a sensical ending. Strictly for the action.

I saw it Thursday and how the movie relates to us as black people was significant. The fact that these traitors were willing to allow themselves to be called donkeys AKA n*gger in exchange for a half-step above the rung their People stood on and a way out of the fight is sad. Turning on their people, abusing, assisting in killing their people show us how Black people keep losing battles of the war.

Also, the constant mercy shown by Caesar & the Apes show they refused to match the ferocity and the viciousness of their counterparts. How black people are so quick to forgive and pray for cops and racists shows that this movie had a much deeper meaning than most people could possibly fathom.

It went over a lot of heads. The Apes were smarter, stronger, more clever, but the fact they couldn't match the ferocity and viciousness of their counterparts make losing the war an inevitability.

Though the Apes won in the end, their mercy, ease to quit/switch sides, all attribute to their eventual downfall. And did you get Steve Zahn's character calling himself Bad Ape the way Black people call themselves niggas?

I work with several donkeys

This whole series is a look into the white psyche and how much they fear the other

Good analysis

There was little to no action in this film.
It was psychological warfare. That's the best part of the movie in my opinion. I'm not one who is all enthralled with action, which is why I hate Michael Bay movies. But watching everything play out, even Caesar letting the people go in the beginning when they know where your Secret Base is.

The plot did surprise me some... which is rare for most films. I didn't get how the Colonel thought he could win that conflict.

I had no problem with the movie, I was just pointing out that this wasn't an action movie like the last one was.

It was about philosophy more than anything else. Not becoming the thing you hate.

I did like how they tied it to the original film with Nova and Cornelius. Also you are seeing the adoption of apes wearing clothing (Bad Ape) the introduction of the waste land - orginal movie ape city was surrounded by desert.

Remember in part 1 we see the ship taking off into space and later it's mentioned that they lost contact? Yup
..they are setting up the reboot for the 1970's timeline to follow

A plot hole to me was why he didn't jist kill them outright? Making them work for what purpose exactly? You could have done the work yourselves. Maybe that was a slavery allegory since everything else was

Disposable work force to build his wall.... he didn't have much overhead either. They didn't get food or water until Caesar came.

The Colonel captured them to exert dominance over the apes, psychologically and physically. Humans needed that to justify their belief that they're the top of the food chain (i.e. like CACs do with colonialism)

Actually, if you think about it the colonel had the right idea.

The people with the mutated disease were a threat to humanity as a whole, so killing them and or eliminating them was the only option, and he showed his commitment to the continued existence of humanity my killing his own infected son.

The Army to the north didn't understand the gravity of the situation and see how the Colonel had no other option. The mutated disease spreads, and of humans we're going to be able to live and speak even in a post-apocalyptic situation people who are infected needed to be disposed of. It's only because the north Army had a bigger Army that the colonel didn't win

The fact of the matter is, unless you become at least part of the thing you hate you can't win.

Caesar was conflicted by ape not kill ape, but there is a reason why the US and plenty of other countries kill their traitors. You've got to at least in part become what you hate, you just have to control it better than the people you hate do, otherwise like I said you can't win the war

Movie was near trash.
Good thing I didn't pay (lol)

Fuck all donkeys and Coons

Caesar was Moses, as stated earlier

The monkey with the vest wasn't half as funny as the laughing cacs thought

Fell asleep once

Felt like the whole movie was set up to link his son Cornelius to the first films

Maybe if it was titled Apes in prison and not war I'd felt different. I thought this was going to be a fucking action packed movie dammit!

Felt a certain type of way when this turned into 12 years an ape honestly

C grade. Mainly for the effects

I saw it today and yeah I felt some type of way when they made them slaves and even had a fellow ape to whip them. I enjoyed the first 2 films a lot more than this one strictly because they had much more action. Bad Ape was a straight ripoff of Gollum from The Lord of the Rings movies

This movie was a money grab off the success of the others. And all it REALLY proved was Koba was right way back.
If they would've done like he wanted before there wouldnt be this movie. I remember when we had a discussion on this year's ago. And look here- they literally admit be was right.

Fuck this sequel. They shouldve left it alone. But I guess they wanted that money. They got some of mine.

Stop comparing yourself and Black people to apes.

The apes may have been stronger but they certainly weren't smarter or more clever. How clever is it to use spears, not manufacture better weapons , or at least steal the weapons en masse from your enemies, not make more of the formula that would actually make your population smarter- anyway, the movie had so many plot holes it isn't even worth talking about.

I saw this today and don't know but to me this entire movie made me feel as if this was a jab indirectly to black people with the many similarities to slavery along with times of today.

Even the fear of the 'humans' (white people) and their fear of the apes (us), and them knowing we are smarter and more intelligent and them not wanting the apes to take over the earth (United States). There were a lot of racial undertones of what's going on today. Maybe it's all in my head. But even when they rescued them thru a tunnel of all places, I was like umm ok.

I thought it was in my head but wife was saying some of the same for some things even what Woody was saying and how they had their own apes, the Donkeys, abusing their own kind. Why would an ape turn on its own kind and help to enslave his own people and knowing in the end is their own demise.

Just how I viewed it...

In the same breathe, it also showed White folks as being savages.
So were there multiple jabs?
