And I don't know why they keep throwing Michelle Obama's name out there she hasn't been elected to dog catcher but she's going to run for president and win. Is she capable of taking the hits she would take as a presidential candidate? That don't go low shit won't work in presidential politics.
It was definitely loaded and ready to go. That was part of the problem, because they got so excited about being able to talk about it that the press actually pushed it into the forefront. For all of their talk about not laying harder into Trump for the sake of being "neutral", they immediately pounced on the first thing they could to attack Biden with. It kinda burned away the last bit of empathy I had them as a group.
To the question here as to who can replace Biden: no one. A woman is right out, especially one that no one is familiar with. That leaves Michelle Obama (who could do the job, but has already gone on record as saying she doesn't even want to do it), and Harris (who, I'm guessing, would rather take her shot in four years with a little more lead time/build up).
Of the males listed, Newsom is arguably the best choice. He has name recognition, and experience running a large state. The down side of that coin is that he is very often a target of the modern conservative machine for his management of said state. They would be more than happy to square up to bash him around for a few months.
The facts are the facts, and the truth is that despite seeming more vibrant that night, Trump still managed to sour himself with the general public. He is no longer some x-factor that might surprise someone with his performance. He is a former president with a given track record, and that record is not great to anyone who isn't pushing his false narrative. Add in the damage that an ultra-conservative chokehold would have on the country right now, and thoughts of voting for him diminish even more.
The one thing you don't want to do is to give the public the idea that you don't know what you're doing. Changing course from Biden would be that message. Polling, interviews, and everything that isn't a 24/7 news soapbox has made it clear that the public, despite some poor decision making at times, does get it, and are willing to vote for Biden (or more accurately, have no desire to vote for Trump).

Trump freaked out because he was expecting his eight year term in office with a rigged primary and maybe we need to have a sit down and let them know how it really works.
I guess 9/11 was supposed to scare us, there might be a lapse with national security during this transition period. Don't let some planes flying into skyscrapers scare you into submitting to tyranny.

As you know, there's been a lot of speculation about Biden continuing his 2024 run for the White House after his train wreck performance at the debate against Trump.
Many democratic donors and some elected officials want Biden to end his campaign ASAP and allow someone younger with more gusto to take the reins from him. A major donor told TMZ that a Biden campaign official told him it was "only a matter of time" before the President withdrew from the race.
So far, Joe is still going full steam ahead with his presidential bid.
