Two totally different groups but Black moon did as far as production wise and you could listen to it today but Onyx wasn't far behind because the that intro or outro "move back, motherfucka the Onyx is here, back the fuck up....",I'm not listening to Onyx at least not on purpose,I've heard Slam so much til if I never hear it again I'll be ok with it.

Onyx was gimmicky as hell, there's some kid that bares that name and don't know why, they were dudes shaving their domes, shopping at the army surplus store and wearing army boots with 48 waist jeans on talking about wildin out?right unless you're going to run right outta those jeans and boots.

Who Got the Props

One of the single greatest debut solo MC performances during the platinum era of hip hop history.

And one of the best debut single production team projects ever.

Onyx first single redefined an entire genre of hip hop music.

That specific Boot Camp sound captured and encapsulated a Neighborhood a city a region an aesthetic and a sound rooted in the foundation of hip hop culture.

Both were dope both were important

But...

Buckshot Shorty and the Beatminerz?

I liked Bacdafucup better, but like someone else in this thread said, Black Moon's album has aged better.

Lol, Black Moon's cassette was so cheap. I remember it would overheat in my player and start to unravel. I ended up copying it to a maxell so u could play it all day.

Black Moon. Onyx was definitely a hype album, but the Beatminerz were on their shit with that dark , muddy sound.

Both albums was fire but Black Moon was more grimy dark winter NYC feeling to me. When I was living in Queens, that along with The Lost Boys Legal Drug Money, and Hell on Earth was in constant rotation.
