Why Are These Black People Rejecting Their Blackness?

Do you believe a man can genuinely feel they're a woman? Then it shouldn't be out there to think a black person wants to be white. Not too long ago, there was a white woman who believed she was a black woman.

Peace,

Do we really not know the answer to this question? It's not as if it's a new phenomenon. The only thing that's changed is the medium through which they broadcast their self-hatred.

I feel you bruh we should NOT self identify as Black we are various shades of brown even Latinos and Asians. We are melenated while so called whites are melanin deficient. Brown Black Yellow White are very divisive.

Whites wouldn't like this because it highlights there deficiencies and shortcomings, but hey all men weren't created equal. :(

No it's cuz black men always chasing after white women. Black men don't appreciate sistas with natural hair and dark skin so black women have to weave and straighten their hair and lighten their skin in order to be desirable to black men who like white features better. If black men didn't have they heads so far up white women's asses these things wouldn't happen. But since black men think they are white and wanna be like white men here we are. Self hating. If black men would just stop liking white people we would be better off as a nation. Straighten up black men.

Afros, locks and naturals – all symbols of a powerful movement that began with the word of John S. Rock, an African-American abolitionist who was the first black person to be admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. Rock would paraphrase the term “Black is Beautiful” during a speech back in 1858.

Some 100 years later, African Americans would begin a movement illustrating Rock’s words, which encouraged men and women to stop straightening their hair and attempting to lighten or bleach their skin with creams.

The Black is Beautiful movement became the most prominent in the writings of author Steve Biko in his book, the “Black Consciousness Movement” in South Africa. The book and the movement aimed to dispel the notion in many world cultures that black people’s natural features such as skin color, facial features and hair are inherently ugly. It was meant to dispel the stigma of internalized racism, which caused such things as “paper bag parties” in the black community, where only those with a skin color lighter than a brown paper bag were permitted.

The idea of Black is Beautiful led to the Black nationalist and Uhuru movement of the 60’s and 70’s where the world would be introduced to legends like Malcolm X, Frantz Fanon, Marcus Garvey and Elijah Muhammad. By 1969, there were black characters on 21 primetime television shows.

One of the main illustrations of the Black is Beautiful movement was the Don Cornelius’ 1969 creation of Soul Train. With a full African American cast of dancers and advertisers targeting the Black is Beautiful movement, Soul Train was the first and largest outreach to the black community that glamorized the physical diversities of Black America. The legacy lasted for three decades on television.

For more information on the Black is Beautiful movement, as told by Dr. Henry Louis Skip Gates on the compelling PBS series “Many Rivers to Cross”, click here.

I'm American and I'm black. I'm not African American per say but I understand that I'm genetically in some way linked to Africa and Africans. Speople forget that there's individual countries within Africa,it's a continent and I don't know which country my past relatives might of came from,I can trace as far back as being West Indian culturally other than that it's a guessing game thanks to history of slavery.

Where most people go wrong is when they deny being black, but if your a mulatto and you don't consider yrself black I won't push the issue no further because I'm not looking you make you something you don't want to be.Good luck to your Clablasian,Creole,Native,Indian, white asses.I can be black and American even though I don't feel like this country honors me or us doesn't mean I'mma give it up so easily to these funky finger fuckers(whites and the rest of em).

Declaring ourselves Black (and Beautiful) is to affirm we are of the original civilization of the earth.

It is a badge of pride and solidarity within a world that wishes to colonize, overtake, deny, destroy, dilute and redefine who we are, what we have and what we represent as an Afrikan descended people.

...The same white supremacist society that in the West for so many hundreds of years taught that our features were ugly and animal-like and that "deepest darkest" Afrika was a place lacking civilization and any kind of real culture.

So then, the affirmation of our Blackness also idealogically places us at the opposite end of the wickedness of whites and white supremacy.

It's all a big mindfuck from Europeans. They have created an anti-black sentiment that has existed for more than 700 years.

Black as a terminology is malicious to evil in most presentations. This anti-black propaganda never stops... Until people will confess to being anything other than black

It is like programming. We see the successful doing it, but seem like the masses are doing it also. It is like getting a clear view of the big picture. Just like in Jonestown people may have seen people with the potential to do good, or different races working together but the big picture was something totally different. We were born in a reality created by the enemies of truth. And a lot of people may not see the big picture yet, but the results of white presence is the same every time.
Only separation will give us a chance to breath free and think and do for self.

I'm Nigerian I never looked at "black" as an form of identity, it just a color to me
It dont define me
If its just a color to u then why are u so adamant in throwing it away?
That "NIGERIA" name u claim as ur origin is also a given name, it was named by ur colonial master Lord Luggards wife coined the term "Nigeria" from the river Niger hence "Niger Area" do u want to throw it away too? Or are u also a slave to ur imperialistic lord Lugard?

Black for all Intent and purpose is fine by me cos it only tries to describe my skin color and nothing else. No white person gave me my skin tone, even White Folks aren't "white" but u don't see them denying being "WHITE" ..cos they understand it means a european ,just as BLACK means an Afrikan based upon Skin tone.

While "Nigerian" is a name given to u by ur former imperial masters
