Windows 7 breaks Amazon UK pre-order volume record, ousts Harry Potter

Take it from us, your London-based sleuths, when anything sells faster than Harry Potter books or DVDs in the UK, it's scorching hot. Case in point is Microsoft's Vista successor, which has sold so well that it has beaten the Amazon UK pre-order record previously held by J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In fact, Windows 7 was able to tally up more sales in the first 8 hours of pre-order availability than Vista was able to collect altogether. Now that's what we call an upgrade.

Doesn't surprise me. Windblows users were subjected to probably the worst OS in recent memory. Only logical that they are ready to wipe Vista from their memories.

how come you didn't post a link for that huh? I want a free legit copy  pm me info

You had to attend, A very boring MicroSoft seminar and it was post on here awhile back I think I was one of the very few to bump it .

Anyways if u where in San Deigo, I would just give u the disc since I did not use the serial on the RC.

before windows 7 vista was the best OS microsoft ever had, you must of been one of the folks who installed vista on a old machine then complained about performance

I don't see what all the fuss is about..
there is nothing wrong with vista..
I ain't "upgrading" just don't like the idea of putting one

I have a legit RC copy so I'm cool but I'm still waiting for all the driver issues and bullshit to get sorted out before switching over.

Oh, so you're supposed to go out and drop $800-1200 on a new machine because Microsoft decides to change their software??

VISTA runs fine on a mid to powerful system but Windows 7 will run a lot faster on the same system and on entry level, single cpu's, celerons & netbook systems. It uses way less resources & memory so if u have an older system or just a basic deskstop/laptop then u will notice the diffrence. Plus it's more logical like XP when it comes to the interface.

windows 7 all day...for those running vista, it's night and day in terms of improvement

will eventually get a copy when this eval 7100 runs its course on the main rig

naw you can build a good system for 500

Not the point. It can be 100 dollars. Could even be 50 or 25, it's still money out of consumers pockets for something they didn't ask for or seek out at time of purchase. And it's something they don't (or shouldn't) need in order for the computer to function.

makes sense
I got core 2 duo processor
4 GB memory
64 bit vista home premium
no problems what so ever

even my old laptop was core 2 duo and 2 GB memory
that was 32 bit and still had no problems with vista..
