Why the comparison? One country has a population over 6 times more than the other.

327 million is 6.4 times 51 million.
126 times 6.4 is 806 which is less than 928. That 928 will be 11-1200 by tomorrow, whereas their number will barely move.
Also, our curve is steeper so the disparity will only get larger.
The difference is density of the population. USA may have more people in general but the the land mass is also at least more bigger in area than South Korea and everyone is more spread out. NYS is about the same size as South Korea but hold a 1/3 of Korea’s population.
Come on, we must stop doing this type of comparison between countries. It's ridiculous. There will never be exactly accuracy from country to country, even if you want to compare density or population.
The main factor here is human attitude and behaviour towards social distancing, self isolation and personal hygiene. No statistician or scientist can predict that.
The countries with the more disciplined people and authoritarian regime will always show the better results. It's common sense that when people strictly follow important instructions better results will follow.
That's why our numbers are fucked. We are going to have multiple hot spots. per capita, our shit will be worse. No strategy, every man for himself with an orange fuck boy in charge.

I tend to agree with you. So many factors. South Korea had masks on deck. When the goofy ass WHO was saying people shouldn't wear them, South Korea made sure citizens had access to masks. Japan did the same.
That's important because they later found that this shit is easily spread through the air and that mild cases and asymptomatic folks are helping drive transmission. So one sick person in a mask saves how many others from being infected? Combine the sick people in masks with non-infected individuals and it's no wonder why some places in Asia have fewer infections.
The west got straight played by health experts AND countries not having masks readily available.
Folks want to compare the U.S. to South Korea but will skip over the more sensible comparison of Italy and South Korea. Italy has universal health care and similar size population as South Korea. The masses in both country responded much differently. Italians didn't listen to quarantine recommendations and overwhelmed their healthcare system as result. Mask use was basically non-existent.
When you have fucked up government response PLUS masses acted dumb you get fucked up results. If it's just one or the other, the place won't be as fucked.

Good tips, but it’s extremely hard to be 100% sterile with ordinary environments.

Personally I’d rather just leave dry goods right in their bags in a corner for a week before touching them. Better than any amount of sanitizing, doesn’t make heavy use of sanitizing supplies that can be hard to find, and an option that anyone can take who has the means to buy ahead.

We have been doing much like that. We take in only the goods that must be kept cold, Lysol and rebag when possible. The dry goods stay out in a hot car for maybe 6 hours. Nothing is perfect, but we need to think this way. The checkers should have hand sanitizer and Lysol for the belt (NOT gloves, which protect them not us.)

Having experience with cleaning infectious sites, what he showed was pointless. Cross contamination is when you touch an infected area(item) and then touch a sterilized area(item)

After bringing in the groceries do the following steps
1) Spray and clean the outside door knob then spray and clean the inside door knob
2.) Place car keys on the floor. Spray with solution and let air dry then wipe down
3) Grab wallet and then wiped down credit cards with cleaning Solution
4.) Remove all items at the door. So take items out of the plastic or paper bag and then discard those bags.
5.) wash hands.
6.) Spray all touch points needed to put up the groceries because you don’t want your touch points to be contaminated only to recontaminate what you just cleaned:

-Cabinet knobs

7.) If you want to wipe down groceries do so at this time but remember one hand it to pick up the item and the other to clean.
