I asked myself the same question and it's really hard to get specifics. I can provide you with a Worldwide map that gives you all the stats from each country if that will help:
If this offers you any optimism, look at the number of cases, deaths and recoveries. I am not making light of COVID-19, but, I did notice that the number of total recovery is much greater than the number of total deaths.

Two outliers of this virus that inarguably skews the statistics. 1) the sheer high mortality rate of seniors and 2) the infathomable zero deaths of small children.
In other words, for example, if you have 50% of one thing and 0% of another thing, then that averages out to 25%, which does not provide an accurate statistic by no stretch of the imagination.
One thing is for certain though (at least according to the what’s being reported), it’s killing old folks at a high rate. And because there is no vaccine yet, we can’t really correlate the numbers to what the flu does.
If what is reporting is true about the nursing home in Washington, then we can’t really say those folks would have suffered a similar fate if they would have caught a cold or the flu. That’s not something you can actively experiment with (or morally do, lol).
I can’t say this is blown out of proportion, but if it’s a new type of Coronavirus as being reported and is killing older people at a high rate, then certain steps have to be took.
I’m not going to down play it nor am I going to lose my shit (my mind) over it either.

All are respiratory infections. They all share similar characteristics. The difference only lies from the virus of which each one causes, which only very specific testing can determine what you may have. Generally, you’re not going to get a fever with the common cold. But all other symptoms are the very similar.
And because there is no cure for the common cold or the flu, then we have no choice but to treat COVID-19 like the others, which all doctors can do is treat the symptoms, which are pretty much the same as the cold and flu.
From my understanding, people that are infected with the Coronavirus is dying from the pneumonia that it causes. That is similar to how people die from the flu.
Now if you look at the symptoms of Ebola, then that’s an entirely different ball game of problems. People that dies from Ebola is dying from organ failure.
COVID-19 is a different virus than the flu and common cold, but all causes the same type of symptoms. Even closer to the flu. SARS is just an acronym for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.
They are different by the virus that causes illness, but are probably more in common on the effects and symptoms. Different and similar at the same time.
This is good but there is going to have to be some serious help for people or things will still get out of control. I'm talking about mortgage/rent/carnote/student loan payment suspensions. Also stoppage of utility suspensions. Either that or some stimulus to individuals.

I’m not sure about the validity of that difference chart as it conveniently left out the high amount of deaths the flu causes each year. Seems kind of biased. Let’s not downplay the flu like it ain’t kill people either.
I think the comparisons should be a little more honest. The common flu kills people as well. We have vaccines for the flu, but none for COVID-19, which automatically skews the differences of lethality.
