I was talking to a friend of mine the other evening. He works in the same field (different location), but also works in research therapy. A side hustle of sorts, as he doesn't want to take it on permanently part-time, but it pays well all the while.
Anyway ... they've been doing that work remotely in recent years, and their dept head planned a get-together for a restaurant meal / party this past Friday evening.
It had to be cancelled / postponed.
The dept head tested positive. She had spent a few hours with a friend earlier in the week, and the friend got home and called her 2 hours later saying she had tested positive & to get herself checked too.
The dept head was pissed. Questioning if she had been experiencing any symptoms prior to meeting up with her and presenting as "healthy".
On a separate note - we dealt with a covid outbreak at work in late-June. Definitely wasn't fun.
