To make a long story short, my sister-in-law won a trip to Hawaii for her and her son. She was so excited, she went on social media and let everyone know she won the trip and when she was leaving.

She then posted pictures while she was there.

When she got home, she found that her front door was kicked in and the little stuff she had (she's not rich) was gone... her small TV... computer... microwave.

It looks like they came back a few times to make sure they didn't miss anything.

The first thing she does is get on her phone and go on her social media sites and ask, "Which one of you M/F robbed me?!"!!

So, my question is to all of you: when you go on vacation out of town, do you tell everyone on Facebook and Instagram.???

Do you post your pics while you are still on vacation??

Or is this something you are not worried about?

Very sorry to hear about your sister. It's a terrible feeling to get violated and there's not much you can do.

I have no social media that I actually use except LinkedIn.

I don't even have my picture on LinkedIn.

So fucking sorry. Sounds like what happened to some bitches I knew back in the day in undergrad. They cleaned those hoes out, they took every last fucking thing.

You know how your apartment looks the day you move in, that is how their shit look after a trip to florida. I mean niggas took every last pair of underwear, your toothbrush, utensils, then said fuck your life!!!!!!!!

I never tell people that I'm on vacation, only a few would know that I'm on vacation to make sure watch my crib and report anything suspicious that they see. Our home never was broken into.

Here's a tip, leave the lights on in the house and have a car parked in front of the house, this would give the impression that someone is home at your house all the time.

Also, never forget to set your alarm as well.

When you come home from vacation is when you can say that you went on vacation posting pictures.

Also, somebody must've knew her address from when she won that trip unless she posted her home on social media with the address on it.

I'm paranoid, so I'll give my neighbor my number to text me if something doesn't look right.
I have an alarm system that should contact myself and the police......but I noticed when I lose power (Wi-Fi) it's unless...so If I know this, the bad guys do too.:hmm:

Our alarm is hardwired in our house, we never trust our alarm using WI-FI because it isn't consistent and at times the WI-FI can disconnect.

Most of those alarm systems have a cell back up so it can still communicate to the company. I used to install security systems.
Cool, but they did ask us did we want our alarm system hardwired or WiFi and we chose to get it hardwired.

Black people are in the race to show off, brag and share everything and it has ramifications to doing so and if you're smart as you claim you are don't ever do no shit like that until after you've returned which a bunch of content creaters have learned to do.

Vacations is the new flex,i'm stunting on people because I stay gone which is great for us but you don't need to tell the worldn, just go and enjoy yourself.

You going to learn today.....

Long before social media when my uncle and his family were living in Orlando. His son made the mistake of telling one of his little friends about the up and coming family trip. When my uncle and his family got back from vacation those spics had cleaned them out. Fact remains it's never good to tell anyone when your home will be left unattended.

Anything hardwired is better than Wi-Fi. I can't stand all these people with these dumb ass Wi-Fi cameras and be talking about the Internet sucks. No your Wi-Fi sucks. There's a difference.
I agree, I was arguing with my mom about getting her ring doorbell hardwired when she wanted to get the Wi-Fi one.

Went by Warren Buffet's main crib...non-assuming upper middle-class hood..nothin to brag bout. Fence wt gate is relatively new install...still waitn for him to talk more on social media bought the underground vault with tons of gold bullion..

I thought all ring door bills worked off Wi-Fi. The only thing you could hardwire is the power. Maybe I'm wrong.
Yeah that's what I mean, hardwire the power from your house instead of using the battery which is WIFI only.

Ring doorbell has 2 options to choose from when you purchase their doorbell. You can click either hardwire or WIFI only which is battery operated. The issue is when the battery goes out, your ring doorbell no longer works on the Wi-Fi.

Nope. I don't fuck with social media like that. She needs to move, cause they know where she lives.

Our Ring is hardwired.

The ring is hardwired to your dorbell transformer so it can charge the battery, Everything else is wifi. Your video is stored on Ring's servers that is whyyou ony get a 30 sec clip and that is why they charge you for storage.

The only thing wifi on your alarm system is maybe the communications, thermostat, cameras, door look, garage opener, etc. Those are really considered accessories and not alarm devices.

I post after I get back.
Dunno why people are so adamant with posting their check-ins on FB and whatnot.
Pretty much letting the robbers know they can take their time.

Like you, I post when I get back. Now, I live in the suburbs, and the police come within 5 minutes of my alarm going off, but still I don't want to take no chances.

I had my apartment broken into when I was living in East Cleveland while I was deployed. That fucking sucked and I never want to go through that shit again, which is why I moved the fuck out of Cleveland. I want my 83-in TV to be right where I left it when I get back home.

Still, Be smart and don't post shit. I'm going to Vegas later on this month
