After years of campaigning and months of binge-watching by fans, Young Justice Season 3 is finally going to be a reality.

Warner Bros. Animation today announced that Young Justice Season 3 has begun production. According to the release, Young Justice Season 3 “promises new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes.”

Warner Bros. Animation did not reveal a release date or a network partner for Young JusticeSeason 3 at this time but did promise that more details were on the way.

Young Justice was a critically-acclaimed and fan-favorite animated series featuring a large roster of characters from the DC Comics Univers. The series coupled attractive animation and character design with rich, textured, long-form storytelling. Young Justice was watched by 25 million unique viewers in each of its two seasons on Cartoon Network.

“The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us,” said Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, in a statement "We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”

Producers Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman: Doomsday) and Greg Weisman (Star Wars Rebels, Gargoyles) will be returning to the series.

In Young Justice, the teenage Super Heroes of the DC Universe come of age in a world of super powers, Super-Villains and super secrets. Used strategically as the secret covert weapon of the Justice League, Nightwing, Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and a host of others strive to prove to their legendary mentors, as well as to themselves, that they have what it takes to be heroes.

When Young Justice Season 1 and Season 2 arrived on Netflix, it spurred hope and internet rumors about the possibility of Young Justice Season 3 becoming a reality. Weisman denied that any meetings had taken place between the Young Justice producers and Netflix, but did encourage fans to continue binge-watching the show in order to let it be known that there was still a serious interest in the show. It seems all of that binge-watching paid off, though it is still unclear if Netflix was the network to resurrect Young Justice.

When Young Justice went off the air, it left many plot threads unresolved. Chief among them was the final fate of Kid Flash, Wally West, who apparently sacrificed his life for the greater good in the Young Justice Season 2 Hopefully Young Justice Season 3 will offer some closure on the issue.

Warner Bros. Animation has also launched a new website, YJS3.com, to keep fans up-to-date with the latest information on Young Justice Season 3. Check out official Young JusticeSeason 3 poster in the gallery below.\

Shit made no sense at all,I read somewhere the reason, why it got canceled, because the they wasn't selling enough toys.
Well, that's not surprising. Outside of South Park, most cartoons using traditional animation don't really make money on television alone. And YJ was a skewed to a more mature audience that wasn't likely to buy toys.

That was the exact reason.... Same for Green Lantern, same for the Batman show..

Side note... those two shows were excellent. Especially Green Lantern.

Man now all I need is a proper Season 3 of Gargoyles and a nigga is good.

They should've created a game (or games) to push the show. Back in the day, cartoons were used to push toys. They should've reversed it and used video games to push the show. Even if they blatantly ripped off existing games using Young Justice characters, DC would still move units. I've said this before. Flood the market with 3DS games and save the Teen rated games for PS4 and XBox One. Hopefully, the powers that be will get it right this time around.

They did make videos games for the show on ALL platforms but the games were bad.
If you search hard on Amazon you might find them.

I have it ....and it is horrible

Those games came way late AND they were barbecue shit on a stick. They should've put some thought into them. I would've made some Dynasty Warriors style melee game. You could even add RPG elements like the One Piece games. A fighting game tied in with the Injustice franchise is another idea. Actually give the viewers who watch the show merch they would buy. DC needs to figure out a way to make the show profitable, or at least self-sustaining.

Could the Arrowverse be setting up for Young Justice?

by Leah Smith

With the arrival of a certain character at the end of Monday’s Supergirl, could the Arrowverse be headed towards a potential live action Young Justice? Across all of the shows, the characters are there. All they have to do now is team up.

Spoiler warning: This post will contain details about the current seasons for most of the Arrowverse shows, Supergirl, The Flash, and Arrow.

Monday’s episode of Supergirl introduced a large number of new faces. But it was the character reveal at the end of the episode that could have the biggest impact on the wider Arrowverse.

After learning about an alien safe haven/dive bar from Alex and Detective Maggie Sawyer, J’onn goes to check it out. He seem to recognize the bartender, and follows her outside when she quickly fleas after seeing J’onn. It turns out she is the last daughter of Mars aka M’gann M’orzz aka Miss Martian.

In the comics, Miss Martian is the teenage niece of Martian Manhunter, and shares the same power set. Having both Martians in live action is exciting enough for DC fans. But combined with some of the other characters being introduced, or already existing in the Arrowverse, Miss Martians arrival could be another step towards creating the Young Justice team.

Young Justice was a short-lived, but amazing animated series. The team included Miss Martian, Wally West, and Artemis, among many others including Superboy, and briefly Speedy/Arsenal. They faced threats that the more high profile Justice League would draw too much attention to, making the situation worse. Most of the team previously operated in the shadow of their Justice League counterparts. Young Justice put them in the spotlight for once.

Almost like the relationship between the TV and movie DC universes. The Arrowverse is the place where lesser-known DC characters can make a name for themselves.

Four of the Young Justice team members are in the Arrowverse, or are about to be. New Team Arrow member Evelyn Sharp, will go by Artemis at some point in the near future. With the introduction of Cadmus, Superboy could also soon be on his way to Supergirl. Even if Connor Kent never makes his way to the Arrowverse, Mon-El could easily fill the Superboy mantle in this live action version.

The CW may never introduce the animated series’ team leader Dick Grayson, or even Aqualad. Those characters are too closely connected to DC Extended Universe staples Aquaman and Batman. But the TV roster could be filled out by characters like Wild Dog, Ragman, and Jesse Quick.

The problem is Speedy/Arsenal on Arrow, are the only already established potential team members. But Thea has quit the vigilante game and Roy Harper is no longer on the show. The other characters are a little too new to carry a Young Justice spinoff. Evelyn Sharp on Arrowhasn’t even taken on the name Artemis yet. Not to mention that Wally doesn’t have super speed at the moment. But he will likely seek out Dr. Alchemy sooner or later to make that happen.

So the team is not even close to being ready to assemble. But as the characters become more established, it could be another path for the Arrowverse to take. As the other shows age, forming a show based on Young Justice would be a way to tap into an already existing fanbase. A natural way to focus on a literally younger team.

It seems unlikely that the Justice League would ever come to the small screen, Young Justice could be the closest The CW could get. It would also tap into the younger demographic that has traditionally been the bread and butter of The CW, teenagers. The perfect combination of the two genres that helps The CW survive. Superheroes and teen drama

How was it ever stalled this long with these numbers?

In January 2016, Weisman finally revealed the reason for the show's cancellation on the podcast "The Hip-Hop Nerd."[42] The show's funding was based on a toy deal with Mattel. The toys were not selling enough so Mattel cancelled the toy line, pulling the funding for the show. With no sources of income large enough to replace the money from Mattel, the show was not picked up for a third season.

Exclusive: Young Justice Showrunners Vietti and Weisman Thank Fans for Season 3

After years of campaigning, tweeting, binging, buying, and let's face it, begging, it's finally happening: Young Justice season 3 is in production. The news broke late Monday via a press release from Warner Bros Animation. A significant part of that news, though, is that the original creative team of executive producers Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman would also be returning to the series to helm season 3.

The duo has been bombarded by twitter questions, requests, and yes, interviewers like this reporter asking them every single time we spoke if there was any update. Back at San Diego Comic-Con, Vietti told Comicbook.com the constant support "never stops being amazing. The thing I marvel at is that with online streaming people continue to have the ability to find the show. I'm on twitter all the time, reading comments from people that are discovering it. That's gratifying to us, that's all we want as creators."

Now, it's back. The fan movement actually worked. Warner Bros. noticed the support and are giving Young Justice another shot. Comicbook.com reached out to Vietti, and he had this to say.

"I just want to pass along a very heartfelt THANK YOU to all the fans that supported Young Justice and never gave up hope. I am truly amazed and grateful that so many of our fans all over the world were able to come together and make their voices heard. Young Justice season 3 is happening because of them!"

There you have it, fans, you made Young Justice season 3 happen.

Greg Weisman is likewise excited and celebrating the news - and the victory for fans.

"I am incredibly psyched to be going back to Warner Bros. and Young Justice," Weisman told Comicbook.com. " I start at WB on Monday, 11/14. And can't wait for Brandon and I to dig in and get our hands dirty."

Sounds like Weisman and Vietti's twitter accounts are going to get bombarded again starting next week, huh?

The press release was a little sparse on details, not yet revealing a release date or network for Young Justice season 3, but with Vietti and Weisman back in charge, it's clear that fans are in for more of the heartfelt, funny, adventurous, intense, dramatic, gut-wrenching, beautiful show that they fell in love with years ago.

Young Justice Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available for streaming on Netflix, and fans can visit YJS3.com to sign up for the latest updates about season 3 as they come in.
