MANILA, Philippines – At a 144-pound catchweight, Juan Manuel Marquez will be at a disadvantage against Manny Pacquiao, a world-class boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) trainer said.

"I just don't think Marquez holds that weight really well," boxing coach Ron Frazier told Fighthype.com.

Frazier, who trained the likes of UFC superstar Randy Couture and MMA heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga, thinks the added weight will slow down Marquez.

The weight factor, he said, will be important when Marquez fights the lighting-quick Filipino champion on November 12.

"I think that he could probably make 130 [lbs] from what I've seen when he's come by our gym a couple of times. He's not a big guy at all," he said.

Marquez, the reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) lightweight champion, currently fights at 135 lbs.

He agreed to face Pacquiao for the third time at the 144-lb. catchweight.

Pacquiao, the WBO welterweight title holder, fights at 147 lbs.

Frazier thinks the Filipino champion won't have problems making the catchweight.

"Manny is a freak of nature athlete who has carried that weight very well for himself," he said.

The last time Marquez fought at 144 lbs. was when he suffered a lopsided decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September 2009.

Well there are a few factors in Marquez's favor when compared to how he prepared for his fight with Mayweather:
1. His opponent won't come in over the catchweight.
2. This won't be his first fight at welterweight.
3. He's hired a special team to make welterweight without compromising his speed as opposed to just drinking piss and eating extra burritos like he did for Mayweather.

Dude that was absolutely disgusting. Coming in over the weight limit on a smaller guy who was making his first fight two weight classes higher. Marquez should do better this time at 144. He knows damn well he needs help with carrying extra weight. He is going to get all the help he needs. Because people have been acting like this fight is one manny was running from. Even though they fought twice and he hasn't won either fight. I can wait for this to be over with. Marquez mosdef knows how to fight manny. Should be a great fight for the winner.

Yeah, it's probably the first time a guy has been accused of ducking someone he's already fought two times.

Hmmm...of course Marquez is at a disadvantage. I don't think Manny has ever fought a guy straight up if he was somewhat a threat. Dude was gonna have Mosley come in at 143lbs until he was softened up.

Shit we still have people trying to claim it was a great victory over Oscar. Is he good? Yes. On steroids? No idea. A freak of nature? Hmm must be if he is not using steroids. An all-time great? No.

I just don't understand how you get a better chin when you move up but hey? To each its own.

They've fought twice with Manny winning one and JMM dominating the first one almost from the third round on. Considering he fought a list of journeymen or hasbeens since Cotto when the JMM fight was there and far more marketable and profitable then Margarito/Clottey/Mosley, it looks like ducking to many people.

Not true, Ninja. Mosley volunteered to come in at 140 and Roach wouldn't make the fight.

The idea of JMM being at a disadvantage isn't exactly breaking news.
