lol i dont remember that show, but by far Squidbillies is the worse in my opinion, the voice acting is horrible, and the story lines arent well thought out. They should just flush it down the toliet and put another ATHF show upSquidbillies is okay but for worst I'd say Xavier renegade angel

, weird as fuck
Squidbillies is funny; Adult Swim's live action stuff is garbage. They need to show anime during the week

A producer I know over at Cartoon Network says they are scaling back majorly on animated projects and doing more "live-action" projects in the future due to cost and time it takes to produce animated shows.
The reason why shows like squidbillies got greenlit in the first place is because of there low production values (there's very little animation in most of their shows) it keeps the cost down.
While shows like the Boondocks and Venture Bros. Cost millions to produce and are very costly for the network to buy episodes from the producers, it's just better business to line-up cheaper shows to fill slots. Robot Chicken is only 15 minutes in order to keep cost down.

Yes, those shows that you mentioned may cost millions, but they bring in the ratings and merchandising dollars.
"Do not touch the trim!"

Not as much as you'd think. Remember the business model is pretty much the same for any business - buy low, sell high. If your budget is say 2 million for a 9 episodes of a show and the shows ratings are good, not great, it's going to be hard for you to regain the initial 2 million you put in. You used to say that aftermarket sales "DVD boxsets" would garner money but the original producer of whichever animation is asking for a portion of those sales as well. Merchandizing can be really weak as well when you talk about shows that didn't have a HUGE following...(they did well) but not enough to make huge sales in merchandise. It's kind of like the music industry. We buy your show, we show the show and make money through advertising, if your show doesn't do well we don't make money. So in order to guarantee sales, we produce lower budget prodjects ala "williams street" and we can recoup our initial investment.
Since I've been putting in work on my own show, I've been really learning the "behind the scenes" of how some of these networks work. Also there is a lot of politics at play when you try to pitch...certain networks are more receptive to your property vs. others. Right now due to so much free content it's getting harder and harder to use the old business model in television...
