Marley Marl 'Classic Recipes' - Recreating LL Cool J's 'Mama Said Knock You Out'

that was so dope!!! He was right about Jingling Baby; between that, chill rob G's 'The Power', Special Ed, 'U can't touch this!" and playing out It Takes Two a million and one times it kept the house heads busy while the hip hop heads got their shine.
I would have killed for that version he played at the end.

Somebody subdue Eric B. so Marley can spill the beans on Rakim's first album. I wanna hear the outtakes from those sessions with an inebriated MC Shan on the boards. Lol.

Props for this man, I'm glad I didn't sleep on this thread. It felt good watching this, can't wait for the next one.

Oh WOW man I thoroughly appreciated this shit right here. Thanks OP for the drop. Enjoyed every second of it.

wow, he REALLY broke shit down on that.

I would never thought to filter the bass line , then add it back to the original on another track.

And the creativity it took to make an 808, DAYUM!

Then to use that other beat-- so many elements that really thickened that track up.

Marley, you get props over here for that dawg!

That was the standard of production back then.

Nothing...and I mean NOTHING filtered basslines better than the AKAI S-950.

Think Pete Rock, Q-Tip, Premeire, Beat Minerz, etc.
