* I can honestly say if my life was on the line to make a decision...The Roots are my favorite group of all time...OK tied with Tribe but whatever. I played this damn CD on my Sony Discman for a SOLID year straight, buying .99 batteries on the 4/5 train. The Roots are able to create the EXACT song that critics and purists always complain that hip hop either DOESN'T make anymore or is INCAPABLE of making anymore. This song has so much damn SOUL it hurts. The emotions are so honest...the song structure production the repetition of the hook throughout and subtle beat changes and Black Thought's delivery damn I could write a 3 page paper on this song alone. THIS song is one of the many reasons older hip hop fans are completely disconnected from modern rap...

Hook x2]
Girl you know that you need
To stop giving me the silent.. treatment baby
Can't you see what you mean to me?
I wanna love you constantly, but you keep neglecting me
And treating me silently

[Verse 1: Black Thought]
Yo, I had a queen named Amina, height 5'7"
Caramel-complected, body like heaven
Met her through the sister of my man, Big Vince
Like something from out the flicks we been in love ever since
She called me her chocolate brother, I call her my sugar sister
Knew Shorty could work it since before I ever kissed her
I never dissed her, painted my picture to hit
But because sex she wasn't with, she started flipping the script
Like, "Listen man, I'm Queen Amina, Amina's not no freak and
That game is weak and keep trying to hit I could quit speaking
Tariq in fact, you bein Black Thought don't get you closer
I dig ya but won't bone ya because I'm so-called supposed to
Most o' them would, but that couldn't be me, that's not my flavor
Go home and think about that, maybe later on I'll page ya"
I contemplated, and then concluded she was bluffing
Steady pursuing screwing, getting nothing but the silent treatment

[Hook]

[Verse 2: Black Thought]
Crazy frustration, about my loving situation
When patience was a virtue, but I wasn't used to waiting
I want some Marvin Gaye healing, feeling is real inside
I slip and slide, my ride'll keep you occupied, I'd
Love to get with it like that, but my baby's kitty cat's capped
And locked, Love Boat is docked at the shore
And what for? Later for groupies on tour
Why won't my sugar call me no more?
I mean, my queen gets upset, rejectin and sexually neglect
Then sayin I'm more sewer than Das EFX, and closed-minded
It's like I'm blinded by the skinning
I'm into women; because of that, this one's into
Communication, temptation played the vandal
Freaking my brain, my mind ripping the handle on physically scandalous
Acts, yo, she knew what I wanted, but she fronted
(Bust it)

[Hook]

[Verse 3: Black Thought]
Well umm
Moving right along with the song, plus the strong
Feelings on my mind, desire to intertwine
Combine and blend, baby bust a message that I send
Ain't no need to pretend, cause shit is real 'til the end
I provide a place to hide from crime, hard times
And living trife, while I open your mind, you're in my life
Like love, it ain't no way no one can rise above
What's real, that's why I'm feeling like you're making me bugged
I puff an El on fifty deuce while I walk in the rain
Heart feeling killer pain while I hop the train
Dial her number to the rest, and ain't no messages left
Regardless, my chest thumps from stress, yo it's a mess
I don't know what I got to do to make you understand
I'm for real and that's no question, no fronting or no guessing
Undressing, caressing, in the span, that I contain in my hand
Could touch and make you say that I'm such a man
And call my name, so let me set your body aflame
I'll never treat you like a dame or run game
Now who's to blame?
I know you're not a ho for niggas with a lot of dough
But I just wanted you to know

[Hook x2]

[Black Thought]
When I met her she was physically intact
Mentally apt to adapt to whatever rap
Qualities that attract a triple-X black
Erotic narcotic from the back
I mean her with the most melodic vocal tone, met her on the avenue
Then exchange telephone numbers at a few
Conversations and vibrations I'd acquire
]From her to set me on fire with Rick James desire
Her image inspire visions of under attire
And never did she gas me about something I should buy her, son
It's time the fella we grew close to one another
She was my sugar sister, I was her chocolate brother
So I never dissed her, painted my picture to hit
But shorty wasn't having it, she said I couldn't stick
It's all copastetic, the Black Thought could never sweat it
Still I could never forget it, just as if she never said it
I contemplated, and then concluded she was bluffing
I anticipated getting nothing but the silent treatment

Searching for some type of sexual sabatoge
To break you out of all your camaflouge
Apparently your message is mirage
Niggas I know would think about a dodge
But my mentals is charged against the odds
Premeditated ep swung upon the kitchen floor
Raising my temperature with bodily allure
Cae mi amor, what? Be a more mature nature
I let you know exactly why they call me Black Thought, y'all
Enter me addictive, fly chocolate like Thai
Cause what I'm dealing with can get the whole world high
And when brothers is half-stepping I get your girl high
But still Amina keeps froning on my
As I enter to intertwine, combine, and blend thoughts
Inbedded with the physical force into your source
You see exactly what I want the rhythm to be
So why you treating me silently?

I take it all in moderation, about my loving situation
With patience was a virtue but I wasn't used to waiting
I mentioned making moves without hesitation
I want this physical and mental stimulation not the perpetration
The penetration of the center as I enter
Intercourse keeping you warm through winter
The source is the word that won't splinter
Enter dimentions of brain tension when Black Thought back ninja
Orgasmic is the music that I send you, love
You know exactly what I'm thinking of, on the L train I'm insane
Recalling when I met you, got your number and name
Wanted to sex and thought you wanted the same, but it's a shame
We could relax, listen to tracks and puff chronic
But only on a level that's platonic
I need a girl that's down forever trying to keep it real
But to shead a little light on her sex appeal
But every now and then it's a shorty who be packing the steel
Shoot 'em down like she hunt me, fronting, the silent treatment

my all time fav roots song ever....... dis song made me a fan of the group back i the 90's...........!

Yeah, top three for me

Do You Want More is slept on

DAMN RIGHT!!!!

Do You Want More is as important to me as Midnite Marauders.

DAMN RIGHTER!!!

This was the song I noticed Black Thought was getting better than Malik B lyrically.

Smooth chill out song.

I was and still am a BIG malik B fan and the fact that it was the drugs...broke my heart.

I had DREAMS of being the next Malik B though for years...

Dice Raw...I see you family!!!

I feel like the roots are STILL under rated.

They did bring him back for the Game Theory album and he was supposed to tour select dates.

I wish I could find it but he said he was in the studio when they recorded that song Water.

He also has a website.
