Amazon just launched a cashier-free convenience store

security, stock, custodian, greeter, truck driver, manager, repair man... these are all the jobs that's gonna need to run that store.. cashier position assed out but there will still be at least 6 diff type jobs available
Lol all jobs that are in place with existing stores...

How many positi9na are being lost?

Soon as people start robbing these places and they see their sales are down....they will be begging to pay that 15 dollars a hour.
like i said grab and snatch haven..it's cold in seattle rite now to..all black outfit with scarf covering face..walk in with duffel bag go to town

Change is always upon us. Technology based jobs are going to be in demand. Labor based jobs are on the decline.

Yep. Its gonna be a holiday season. They better be paying some security in there or something. There's no way in hell this shit will work.

basically
it won't work cause people ain't honest
this society ain't honest
its take.

Right. Soon as this news hit opportunists said they are gonna test it. That's just our nature as people. We gonna test and see what we can get away with.

Good all grocery stores need to be like this.Tired of fat ass,old slow ringing up cashiers keeping everyone hostage in the damn checkout line.

Security - done remotely. Plus the store has hundreds of cameras. You will be recorded at all times.
Stock - peep the video I posted. Robots will become the new stockboys.
Greeters - AI chat bots in kiosks. Ask a question, it will give you an answer.
Truck Driver - they already showed that they got driverless trucks. Will be more mainstream in 5 years.
Manager – more like an admin monitoring the spot either on-hand or remotely.
Repair Man – more like IT tech.

Can't fight the future.

Those stock jobs aren't safe either.

Ultimately will be cheaper than paying a crew of $15/hr high schoolers, college kids, and unskilled laborers.

Great for progress and investors. Sucks for the job seekers and those fighting the future.

can it unload a truck?? help customers find products in diff aisles? go get a product from the back on demand? open boxes? take boxes/packages to the trash?... it's gonna be sometime b4 johnny 5 take those jobs

Technology is taking those jobs

Mofos better get on the bus or get left automation is here.. Either mofos go to school and learn how to code and program or get left like these cacs lookin for minimum wage factory jobs that ain't never coming back

they've been using this at my old job at Fujitsu for the past year.
they have it setup in one of the snack shops inside the building.
i knew it wouldnt be long.

cameras haven't stopped billions of dollars worth of merchandise from getting stolen each yr... cameras mean nothing when ur face is covered with a scarf and u rocking an all black outfit with gloves..notice u didn't say nothing bout custodian jobs..short circuit won't be taken stock boy jobs for a few yrs..ur gonna need real security, real custodians, real people handling merchandise and answering questions

They replaced my job's cafeteria with a big automated store similar to this. Now it's people that were making six figures out on the street for stealing a bag of chips. If Amazon thinks they'll be ok if they keep these out the hood, they will get a rude awakening on who are the real criminals.

That's easy enough to deal with, don't go in there. :dunno:

There's one thing that always gets white peoples attention...money. It fails to make money it will disappear as fast as it appeared.

its easily that simple

but people are not very bright in general

There will be some human element to these stores, no doubt. But the majority of jobs will be automated in one degree or another. What makes more business sense, a team of 20 employees or a team of 200?

Look how many stores have cameras and security guards and they still have theft. Nothing is 100%. Nothing.

Custodians? The next generation of Roombas. The industrial versions. And for the clean ups that can't be automated, they will hire whatever Uber of Cleaning companies out there to do it so they don't have to pay FT or PT employees.

Asking questions? Again. Kiosks with AI chatbots and use the app on your phone with location services turned on so they know where you are, what store and what aisle. The same software/AI in the Amazon devices will be in the app and will answer all your questions for you. And it will be better than a human because it will be tied into the store's database and "know" most of the answers to your questions like, "When is the next delivery of broccoli?"
