It just got more expensive to send mail.

The price of a “Forever” stamp has gone up a nickel — to 55 cents.

While not exorbitant, the price increase is part of the biggest price jump on stamps in the United States Postal Service history. And it’s a result of the pressure the agency is facing to dig itself out of a deep financial hole.

In November, the agency reported a loss of $3.9 billion for fiscal year 2018, despite seeing growth in its shipping and packaging business.

Stamps with the “Forever” designation retain their value no matter how prices change in the future.

In addition to the new price of “Forever” stamps, the shipping prices and prices for flat rate boxes also went up. The cost of a small flat rate box is now $7.90 — from $7.20.

The USPS’ board of governors say these rates will keep the Postal Service competitive.

When is the last time you purchased a stamp? Think about it
If you rent from a bullshit apartment building. Like I do, you got no choice. I rent from a place. Where the leasing office is on site. But you are forbidden to take your rent there. I mean they will not take your rent at all. You have to mail your rent to the main office at a different building.

This is because of what Bush 2 did fucking with their pension plan.

The GOP wants to privatize the USPS.

If they ever privatize the USPS, you will never see your mail again cuz private contractors will not be able to handle the volume of mail the USPS handles.

The crazy thing is that the dumb ass rural cacs who want to privatize it will be hurt the most. Fedex, UPS will not deliver to remote, rural locations like the USPS is obligated to do.

Friday (2 days ago)
I loaned a friend a couple hunnit until his $$$ came in.
I called him, he talked about the 2019 Subaru he copped.
I said remember that doe I lent you?
I'll send a check.
2 months pass, no check.
I bought 2 stamps. Put 1 on an envelope addressed to him.
Put the other on an envelope addressed to me.
I texted him - "a SASE (self addressed stomping elephant) is coming to your home soon!"
SASE (old post office term/joke. really stands for self addressed stamped envelope)
Pops retired from USPS in 2000, right after the new contract & before e-mail really took off.)

He been blowing up my phone for 2 days - calls & texts asking "WHAT??"
