It didn't. At the end of the day, she's a better writer than she is an artist. It happens a lot. Some people can write hits for others, but not themselves.

I would never in my life pull out
Beyonce/jay z seem to have a rep for destroying careers of folks that fuck with them business or otherwise. Can't say for sure how powerful they are. It's not like they destroyed someone's career equal to theirs. It always seems to be minor celebs (at lest from the stories I know of).
I have heard stories of Beyonce making certain demands that award shows, news shows etc, bent over backwards to accommodate. I also remember the time Beyonce released a just announced album right when Kelly (from Destiny's Child) was about to release one of her solo albums.
I say all that to say it would be very easy, and not unlikely, for Beyonce to use the industry to step on Kerri's career anytime she wanted.
