The California Chevrolet dealer whose technician was caught street racing a Dodge Charger in a customer's C8 Corvette has made good by allowing the owner to trade inhis car on a replacement at the dealer's expense – taxes and all.

Earlier this summer, the customer brought his 2021 Corvette in to Freemont Chevrolet to diagnose an engine tick, which turned out to be nothing more than a loose spark plug. When the customer got the car back, he discovered that the car's Performance Data Recorder (PDR) valet mode had recorded one of the dealer's techs taking the car for a spin after completing the work.
The Drive (which also reported the initial incident) caught up with the owner and dealer this week, both of whom expressed satisfaction at the outcome. The customer went home with a 2022 Corvette at no cost, leaving his 2021 model in trade.
A shakedown drive to validate a fix is not unusual, and we'd even expect techs to explore an engine's rev range (after warming it up, of course) if the powertrain is at the center of the issue. But an impromptu, 148-mph street race is not what we – or the C8 owner, for that matter – had in mind.

I'm starting to see more C8's around. Very beautiful cars and affordable.
I wonder if it is any coincidence that the Alfa Romeo 8c took the similar name and design for their model sports car

Must be one of those sensitive dudes on Bgol. He makes it sound as if the car is allergic to doing 148mph. It wasn’t abused and he did not run a cold engine.

Man listen.... That's why I love my dashcam. That bitch is hardwired so when the dealer had my car for two weeks, all I had to do was check the footage when I got my car back to see if someone took it for a joyride or took it home, or whatever.
That and it will record what the tech says while in my car.

This dude took his Audi R8 in for service and caught the techs saying he needed a battery, but they didn't want to do the work, so they didn't tell him. They also insulted him a couple of times and he caught it all on his dashcam.

No. Alphas had the C name for their cars already - 4C, 8C, etc. It's a common appellation for a coupe.

You’re probably the only person on Earth with that perspective.
You got that fucking right.... when my car's there to get fixed.... I don't want anyone fucking stunting in it..... unless they're at a race track fixing my fucking race car.... he don't give no fux cause he leases everything and only keeps it one or two years

I actually test drove the Giulia....that shit was a very smooth ride.
I'm trying to convince my wife to get one.....but she's hellbent on wanting an Audi Q7 or Cayenne. She prefers an SUV.

Only car I ever drove that was smoother was Porshe.

Those three (Alpha, Audi, Porshe) you're def gonna have maintenance costs. If you don't care about that go for it.

Or you could just cop this one:

Yeah I already have a BMW 530i and Mercedes ML350....so I'm not too concerned about the maintenance. Now with my daughter's car I just bought her...that was a whole different story. It was just hell finding a place that worked on her car other than the dealership.

This is my first time seeing or hearing about Brabus.

Brabus is THE tuner for Mercs. Similar to Ruf, they have permission to basically create their own brand using Mercs. They are absolutely ferocious and will chew most anything out there.
I'm a performance guy.
