Joshua Steven Ribe, a fellow guest at the Caribbean resort from tiny Rock Rapids, told police Konanki was nowhere to be seen when he woke up from his stupor, Dominican news outlet El Nacional reported, citing authorities.
Now, officials are trying to piece together her last moments as a massive, four-day search continues.
Noticias SIN reported that Ribe has given three versions of what happened next, first telling police he threw up from the rough surf and went back to shore — but asked Konanki if she was OK.
In the second version, he allegedly said he felt sick to his stomach and left the water, last seeing the missing woman in knee-deep surf before passing out.
Finally, he also told authorities that he saw Konanki walking along the shore before he fell asleep, the outlet said.
Police have not said if they suspect foul play but said Ribe is cooperating with authorities.
Ribe’s father declined to comment on Monday.

I've been next door to that resort three times already and I don't think the cracker killed her.
The resort is a randown party resort so all people do is drink cheap liquor from sunrise to sunset. It's spring break for them so everybody is fucking drunk out of their minds looking to hook up and get some easy pussy. And you know those brown skin Asian girls love white boys.
If anyone goes to that section of the beach it's extremely rough. And the best way I can describe it, is it feels like it's pulling you in and the waves crash on top of your head. My friend and I got in that shit once and said fuck that and it was lifeguards out there at that time. Now imagine doing that shit at 4:00 a.m.
So my theory is that they were both blacked out drunk when they got into the ocean and the ocean did what the ocean does. He said he laid down and fell asleep. DR is no worse that traveling anywhere else in this country or the world. As with anywhere you go be aware of your surroundings & don't do risky or dumbshit.
In this case it sounds like her friends weren't really her friends & left alone with a stranger. Sometimes you have to save folks from themselves especially at that age & liquor was probably involved.
