I was listening to the Beatles "1" album and trying to think of a rock song more masterful than this. I'm sure it's debatable.

During the rehearsal, George Harrison made a good point that the song can be spun into any genre.

I rarely have a "best song ever" in any music. But this is unique.

BTW, cute kid.

Man, it's not even the best Beatles song.

Bob Dylan & Jimi Hendrix?

You can't lose.

Queen- Boheim Rhapsody

I've been a Queen fan since I was a kid (I'll watch "Flash Gordon" over and over just because of the soundtrack) but I've never been big on this song. I think "Wayne's World" fucked it up for me.

I only came in this thread because I thought the song in question was "Hey Joe" by Jimi, a song I like better.

i like "A Day in the Life" by the beatles , and 'Yesterday' better then hey jude, but hey jude is a great song though...

if the song was rereleased today, it wouldn't be categorized into rock and roll, probably alternative indie maybe ionno.

EXCELLENT cover version and a Top 30 hit itself in 1969.

"Hey Jude" - Wilson Pickett (with a Duane Allman guitar solo)

Wilson Pickett doing "Hey Jude" with the BeeGees on The Midnight Special, 1970s.

What about the song Eric Clapton dedicated to Paul McCartney's ex? I saw on Clapton's bio on A&E that it was considered one of (if not) the greatest rock song ever. Me personally I thought it was pretty good, but not the greatest:

You're talking about Harrison's ex, Patti Boyd. She was also the inspiration behind Clapton's, Bell Bottom Blues and Wonderful Tonight as well as Harrison's, Something.

Wow, a greatest rock 'n roll song ever thread and not 1 original Black song offered?

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Dude, the Hendrix version of "All Along The Watchtower" sounds NOTHING like Bob Dylan's version, so it's kind of an original.

What's important is that Jimi's a brotha, and the greatest to ever pick up a guitar.

That's cuz it wasn't a general argument. I specified "Hey Jude" and said it's debatable.

You may be able to make more of a case for the song on the B side of this record.
