Why my daughter will flunk out of school and end up being a stripper/crackhead.

My 11yr old daughter came over this weekend. I had her lay out her homework on the table the night before so we can finish it this morning.

While doing the work, she expressed to me the need to make a 3D rock cycle model. What she gave me was a copy of the permission/request sheet that her mom recieved and signed Feb 12th that she will be making a 3D rock cycle with her which is due March 1st.

From the school, all they recieved is an diagramed example of how a rock cycle works and request that we build a 3D model of a rock cycle thats not on a flat surface and it must show all steps of the rock cycle with any idea or list of materials needed and then it must show "how one drop of magma would travel through your model rock cycle".

Essentially, nothing but the picture of a rock cycle is all the information that was given on this sheet. Under no circumstance does an 11yr old know how to build this 3D model, much less a physics major without any information at all other than whats required. The full list of requirements are:

The model needs to:
Demonstrate the continous flow of materials through the cycle.
Include all of steps in the rock cycle.
Have all parts labeled with a key
Be in three dimensions (not flat)
explain how one drop of magma would travel through your model rock cycle.

Absolutely no explaination on how to build one or any idea of what materials to use or even a list of items that can or should be used. The picture given is an actual cut away of a real rock cycle and not a picture of a model rock cycle.

Says "large part of her final grade". Doesn't say how much or what percentage or anything.

I called her mom and when I talked about the verification of her permission form, she said she never saw it when my daughter insists she turned the signed form in to the teacher and this is a copy of the form.

A lazy mother who wouldn't dare tell me whether her daughter has a project or not because I would say that obvious "why haven't you started on it"?

Self discipline is the sole reason we have crackheads, drug dealers, and failures in life. It has nothing to do with enviroment or racism, but puritanical laziness by parents. I'm going to figure this out and get this done this weekend, any help would be nice, but she can't go over her friends till its done right now.

Dang ... that's a pretty easy project. But then again ... I get geek'd about stuff like that. I miss doing stuff like that with my daughters.

Here's an idea that might work. Try taking a few minutes on the internet, do some research and help your daughter.

Beats the hell out of you betting on her flunking out of school and ending up being a stripper or crackhead. Damn your opinion of your daughter is fucked up.

Unlike you I wish her luck. :smh:

exactly. schools can get a little more lax in giving out assignments without prior prep b/c they know kids have even more access to this info via the internet. think of how much easier it is now to get info online w/o havin to trek to the library on a Saturday and fuck wit tha dewey decimal system to find the right book(s) to check out.

Relax homey...get off BGOL for a min., then you and she start Goggling together...;)

All I know this dude is a poor excuse for a father. Comes to a porn board to bitch about how his daughter will be a failure instead of trying to help her become successful.

The bottom line is he's pissed at the mother but he's taking it out on the child. If the child fails he will feel justified in saying its the mother's fault ignoring the fact that he too was a major contributor to the child's failure.

Say no more....To the OP if you feel that way about your daughter then you should have her contact Twerk Team and be a Youtube star.

Perhaps you should reread the original post before casting judgement. I already beat you to the punch.

OK fuck the bullshit!!
1. her moms an asshole for not telling you about it till the last min.
2. your kid needs to take responsibility for her schoolwork.
3. You got the internet, a diagram, and a child's imagination. This shit should be easy.
Need help?
start off with glue, a shoe box, a poster board and some colored paper. All that shit can be found at your local walmart.
have her write it up an you type it up.
make labels & use those little push pins.

Hell I just done half this shit for ya
do me a favor and PM me the end result if this.... I would like to see it

OK, dumbshit. Hooked on phonics needing nigga, reread my original post. How many times did I say that it cannot be flat that it must be 3D? Find me a 3D model of a rock cycle on the internet with a list of materials and I will donate again. I cannot find one on the internet at all.

You make it 3D by using either real rocks or make play-dough models of the rocks.

Shit. Reminds me my daughter's mission project is due soon. Fuckin' California and these damn missions!

Do you have a Michael's Craft Store near you? Just go there or any other art and craft store and they will hook you up instead of wasting time on the Internet.

Here's an idea: Just make it similar to a diorama using a medium sized box that you can cut so that it can be opened to reveal the rock cycle and closed for easy carrying. I did this once when my daughter had to create a rain forest diorama. I printed images from the Internet on my color photo printer, put them on the inside of the box for background effect, got toys and rock layers from Michael's Craft store as well as toys r us, tied or glued them to the box to give the 3d effect. You have to be creative. I even attached a strap to the box so my daughter could carry it to school.

Again, research "dioramas" and extend that concept to what you are doing. Good luck.

Yeah, I found that one. Its for making a rock cycle on a flat board. Not a 3D model once again. I guess I'm stuck until her teacher emails me back or calls me so I can cuss her out for this bullshit.

Another tip: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090131144207AArSEL6

When you say "3d" , I think of the volcanos we used to make with the baking soda etc. You sure it has to be THAT detailed? When it says "not flat" does it specify?

for some reason I cant imagine a wholly "3d" model of the rock cycle re: the volcano. maybe they dont mean fully 3D?

I find it hilarious that you are lambasting your daughter, when you won't take the time to figure this simple ass shit out.

First go to GOOGLE, one of the first links should bring you here.

If you need to be hand held in making a 3D model from that picture, then you're the one who lacks "self discipline", you're the "lazy" parent trying to blame this on "environment" (i.e. what your BM did or didn't tell you).

It's a project expected to be done by an 11 year old child, not something to be presented at MIT; stop making excuses and looking for someone else to hand hold you through it...your daughter needs YOU to hand hold HER hand through it. :hmm:

^^THIS^^

Use real rocks to represent the 3 types and then draw a diagram between the rocks showing how they change,
