Samsung Galaxy tab is best seller

Yooooo that shit is dope...did I just see dude make a call on that joint...damn I am sold...I will still wait to see what the iPad 2 brings to the table but that was a nice vid...I like the size too...initially thought it was too small but it looks good...I convinced now that the rumors of the iPad 2 coming in diff sizes will be true...I really diggin the Galaxy tho...

Did some quick research...the only negatives I see is that they say the droid apps* are tailored for smartphones and not specifically for the Tab...kinda like what was the case w/ the iPad when it 1st dropped and you had mostly iPhone/iPod apps for it...the other negative is they may lock you into a contract for 3G coverage...w/ the iPad currently you can jump on/off a 3G plan whenever you want to

Someone commented on another forum that it is an oversized smartphone moreso than a tablet netbook...but the exact same thing can be said for the iPad so that point is moot...I like the lil extras that they have that the iPad doesn't have and prolly won't have...although iPad 2 will address some of these lil extras...I'm really feeling this joint tho

* apps are so overrated...most of the shit apps do I can do via the internet...when on my iPod/iPad...I would often bypass the apps cuz I felt more comfortable doing it on Safari...the only apps that I HAD to use were the alarm clock joint...Accu-weather and Comiczeal...oh ya and of course Angry Birds hahahha

Isn't the Tab really just a slightly bigger iPhone? When the iPad came out, everyone said it was a big iPhone. What's the difference between the iPhone and Tab besides 2.5 inches?

One thing other companies will never touch Apple on is GUI. That shit looks Windows 95ish. It has an ever present menubar on top, and they couldn't figure out the UX without having to have 4 buttons on the device. This is not simple or intuitive. iPad has one button. Everything else you need to do is via the screen.

The Tab will be a nice 2nd place tablet. Without a great app ecosystem and the lack of a integrated media software platform, the user experience won't be as rich as Apple.

On a UX side of things, there are benefits to a closed garden. Remember, everyone isn't on BGOL "acquiring" content. Majority of people still pay for stuff. Study came out just today saying that 65% of internet users have paid for content. Most people want simple. App Store and iTunes are simple.

I'll play around w/ the Tab on my own...can't really comment on something I've never used but ya w/ the iPad it's not just all specs...ppl really underestimate the user experience...my sister was downing the iPad while we were talking about it...then I surprised her and showed her mine...the discussion ended rather quickly after that hahaha and she's had an iPhone for years and was still "wowed" by it...I had to sell mine cuz I was stuck in an airport for a few days...I thought I was only gonna be gone 2 days...so I brought no credit cards w/ me and just a lil bit of cash...stupid mistake...but now's a good time to sell iPads w/ the new joint coming out...I miss my shit tho hahhaha...this Tab is looking serious tho...I'm just wait tho and see what the iPad 2 is talking about

That benefit is to Apple and consumers who don't know better :dunno:
'Know "better"' is a million dollar phrase.

Most people don't know how to use a torrent, aren't familiar with FileServe, are members of messageboards, or carry around external HDs with them to copy shit. Most people don't know the difference between AAC and MP3 or know the difference between 128kbs and 320kbs. Most people simply buy shit. For that, the iTunes closed garden is ideal. They want to pay as little as possible for shit that simply works with the least amount of effort on their part. That's the reality. :dunno:

you sure know what most people dont know how to do, do you have any polls or documentation to back this up?

Bro you ain't said nothing but what I said...which is the closed platform benefits Apple and 'dumb' consumers...that 'reality' has nothing to do w/ consumers in this thread who are discussing that they want more...that's about as worthless as Divine flying into threads like this and mentioning how many units Apple has sold...that's fine and dandy but inapplicable to discussions like these

I mean he is right...there's no doubt about it...but his point is moot...

It's like having a discussion about strawberries tasting better than most fruit including apples...and ppl discussing the benefits of eating strawberries and shit and here this nigga come talking about well most ppl (not even himself necessarily) like apples cuz it's simple to eat. So. We was in this thread discussing we like strawberries...dude is just responding from a stance where he feels the need to "defend" the iPad...

Specifically? Nope.

But I've worked in advertising for years, and every ad agency has planners who do research. I worked on a Samsung campaign and the research showed that most consumers didn't know shit about the technical specifics of shit when it comes to consumer electronics. They latch onto buzzwords like 'megapixels' and '720' and '1080' without knowing the difference between 'I' or 'P.'

You were instructed to speak in those buzzword terms because most people don't want to take the time to learn what really drives consumer electronics or cars for that matter. There are always niche groups that deepdive any product, but as a general rule, you don't target them with your general market advertising. You save the heady stuff for trade publications and platforms.

Two phrases are drilled into you when it comes to advertising to general market: Keep It Simple, Stupid and Lowest Common Denominator.

And this applies to devices. What's the product with the bigger numbers (process, HD size, screen, megapixel camera, etc) and which one can I pick up and use immediately without doing any reading? This is what will ultimately drive sales. Apple feasts off of keeping shit simple.

I said the Tab would be 2nd and simply stated why.

Not defending the iPad, just stating my view on the market and consumer behavior. I don't even have an iPad. :dunno:
