I'm still quietly fuming over how we looked yesterday, but realize at the end of the day it is just one game. After hearing from Flus again later today, I'll be turning my attention to the TB game and expect to see a better showing (since that's all you can really do).
After having gotten the chance to look at the tape, I expect the media to grill him more this afternoon and him responding with more specifics on how they plan to attack things going forward.
My thought process in order to keep sane and level-headed:
You can say it's Field's fault for w/e your reasons are (I'm not in that camp, personally),
you can blame it on the OL for not doing the greatest job in protection,
you can say the coaching staff and game plan stunk after having an entire offseason to prepare,
...but the season is a journey.
We were the worse team in the L for a reason last season, so my first expectation is to show actual improvement NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES TO GET TO THAT POINT.
Whether that means demotions -- players OR staff responsibilities -- there should be no regard for hurt feelings.
If a guy can't do the job, it's Flus's job to do what needs to be done (ie. him taking a larger roll in getting this defense right or adjusting the offensive playcalling responsibilities, etc.).
I didn't have any specific expectations but I think Poles added enough to the roster for us to look better than that. Dudes sound dejected after the game as if they didn't believe in the plan. And that's on the coaches to correct.
