That's kinda normal for the Santa Ana winds from what I've come to understand. Thru come and go throughout a calendar year.
This is not normal. The center to enter winds is blowing hard harder than usual plus, you have extremely dry conditions and very low humidity those people in that part of Los Angeles are just sitting in a tender box right now. Yes this is climate change.

How did the fires start?
That is a good question. It could’ve been sparked by accident or or somebody was burning something they didn’t have no business burning or somebody just did it just to see what happens. This was the wrong time for a fire because of the extremely strong winds coming from the east.

this is wild, regardless of whether this was started intentionally or direct result of climate change they don't have the resources to contain this. talk about lack of risk management
There is really no lack of risk management. When you have that many people in one area and the winds are blowing that hard and you have extremely dry conditions this is what happens. Yes climate changes is involved with this. People climate change is going to make things extremely expensive across the whole world. North Carolina probably thought they had the best risk management until hurricane Helene came through a few months ago. I look at a lot of international news when it comes to weather event. Air overseas has been very bad this year with droughts and flooding. What does climate scientist said 30 or 40 years ago is starting to come true in a quick way a lot of this stuff didn’t supposed to happen until 2100 but is happening sooner

I'm not against women earning leadership positions via capability, experience, and hard work, but if these women lack any of the aforementioned prerequisites then we have to call it out.

If you ever see a minority in charge of an office that was traditionally white male
You can bet that they are better in every single way than 90% of the white men who has held that job before.

Fact Check: Did Los Angeles Cut Fire Department Funding by $17.6M?

Several social media users have made posts accusing Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass of reducing funding for the Los Angeles Fire Department in the wake of the fast-moving fires.

…The proposal included $814,281,952 for the fire department—with $77,957,494 for salaries and $41,324,458 for expenses.

This amounted to a decrease of $22,909,285 since the department's funding for the 2023-2024 fiscal year was $837,191,237. The estimated expenditures for that year were more than $903 million, according to the document.

The adopted budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year increased the amount for the fire department to $819,637,423, according to a summary on the city administrative officer's website. That meant the department's funding saw a decrease of $17,553,814, rather than almost $23 million.

Bass signed the budget in June.

Her office noted that the budget funds the hiring of firefighters and continues the Emergency Appointment Paramedic Program since the majority of calls to the fire department are related to medical emergencies.

"This budget serves as a reset, in part by continuing to hire for critical positions including police officers and firefighters while eliminating some of the department's vacant positions, thereby prioritizing our City family over empty desks," she said in a statement at the time….

Man I’m sure them cuts hurt some but I’d like to think that fire would’ve still roamed freely

This is funny. The same people that railed about the fire department having a large budget and saying that insurance is a scam, are the same ones crying and bitching about the fire dept. NOT having enough money and home owners' insurance not being available. I even saw one billionaire that said too many tax dollars were going to the fire dept. posting about being "willing to pay anything" if a private fire dept. could come save his neighborhood. Welcome to What Your Money Can't Buy 101, you fucking hypocritical assholes! It's fucked up, because others have to suffer because of your selfishness.

All that talk about government cutting and reducing the size, DOGE and wanting government the size of a footprint.

We want better healthcare, better infrastructure, better fire and safety assistance, lower/more competitive insurance.

And. We want to buy Greenland, Panama Canal, absorb Canada and cut taxes for corporations (again).

Or. We can fine tune and implement the Buffet rule for taxes, work to cut gov inefficiency reasonably and deal with our debt problem.

My question. What was the overall budget? I read it was $820 million. A cut of $17 million was going to change the tide? Where were the cuts? Fire preparedness training? Equipment? Or was it salaries and redundancy?

Yep that why I said I’m sure they hurt some… aka some folks feelings and pockets but if that cut stop a fire sprinkler systems for the entire LA district…. Then yes it hurt tremendously.

The cut might’ve been something like not buying tires every year, let’s go 2 years since the study showed we could…and so on….

It's all political, the 17 million was not going to make a difference

Climate change probably did, then again the town of Paradise California was burned to the ground because Pacific Gas and Electric didn't update their equipment properly. 70 people died, but somehow the government decided not to hold anyone accountable and now that company is richer than ever.

I wouldn't be surprised if something similar is at play here.

Yes, but it’s impossible to cause heavy rain like we have in the south.

Southern Cali is a desert. The atmosphere is too dry. You can’t seed clouds without clouds. It takes an incredible amount of energy to provide that area in all layers of the atmosphere.

Plus, with the high population and the draining of all natural lakes and reservoirs, they don’t have enough moisture in the air from evaporation.

This is exactly what man-made climate change looks like. Wildfires can be natural and usually help create better soil for agricultural growth. But instead, they have built numerous structures and ruined the ecosystem that when wild fires breakout like this, there are zero natural barriers to fight it.

Great explanantion.
Thanks.

Why is there hurricane force winds?
Happens every year. It’s called the Santa Ana winds. It’s an occurrence when winds drain out of the Santa Ana mountains towards the coast and due to its loss of air pressure as it sinks, it loses its moisture and speeds up. This season is not unusual in any way. Bad management has led to this disaster being as bad as it is. Also, considering that the celebrities are suffering significantly, we’re being trained to care. It’s always unfortunate, but usually we don’t hear much about it. It eventually reverses, and brings rainfall. That phenomenon is called the Pineapple Express. This phenomenon is a feature of meteorology in that area. I’m surprised 4th Dimension hasn’t chimed in, unless I missed it.

It happens every other year, but as I keep telling you guys, this was worse because of the winds was more powerful than usual. It is extremely dry in southern California with very low humidity. The fires was just acting like a blow torch because of the wind speed. V

Absolutely.

These mofo thought they was above nature.
