A&R For Univeral Records Explains How He Got Cash Money Signed

This thread is showing how young mufuckas are. Texts have been around a long time. Back then they used to costs like .10 cent a text. Anyone remember when you'd pay 49.99 for 500 minutes and thought that was great?

I thought it was just me but a lot of people had two way pagers (that didn't have a lot of bread).

man I worked in wireless sales ... it cost .10 for a text in 2007-8 ... and ATT/Verizon still want $49 for 500 minutes to this DAY ... why is this up for debate

Used to be $19.99 for that alphanumeric pager back in the day ...that's what we did till SMS paging (which is not "texting") ... dude was not texting nobody in 1998 ... and it has been proven already he didn't get them no deal

Had that Pagewriter then upgraded to a timeport p935 then the A900. I remember I used to play battleship with some cat I met on the yahoo group for the 2-way scene. Had that dopewars and Nitroman joint on there. Joint used to look like a big silver ass brick on my hip :lol::lol:
I copped the pagewriter cause the timport wasnt in black at the time and that bitch cost like 150 duckets more but basically had the same shit the the PW2000 had.

Yeah there was a big 2way scene. I remember the site where you can send ringtones to your shit but it took so many characters that I use to send the shit to my email and physically type the notes into the ringtone maker in the pagewritter

Yeah niggas use to try to play it off with that "that shit looks like a brick" hating shit but in the same breath ask how much it cost:hmm:

 Yo, I was about to say. I remember when I came to school in '97 with that big ass motorola timeport 2-way and niggas was lookin at it like it was a light saber or some shit.
Hell yeah, Niggas had never seen them up close they had only seen the shits in rap videos. One of my niggas copped one and didnt even know how to use the shit:hmm: Stupid nigga got it strictly for the floss factor:hmm: Then the dumb nigga dropped the shit in a big ass cup of kool-aid on accident:hmm:

you are right. Two way pagers were the equivalent of Niggas with 24' on his whip but still lives with his moms. They had a floss factor back then because all the rappers and celebrities were using them. I bout mine to keep in contact with my business.

So it wasn't Baby who got this deal done but this guy. The myth has been revealed.
not really a myth fam.
everybody in the industry kno Dino Deville was that dude back in the 90s.
he pretty much signed every other group from the south to universal bk then (Dirty, Camoflauge RIP,) .
he also had a hand in nelly and lil flip getting signed to their big ass deals.

:lol: This nigga Dino straight up remixed the fucking real story....Cash Money was a done deal to sign with Penalty Records until the last moment Wendy Day from the Rap Coalition got in Baby & Slim's ear and took them over to Universal.... The story been told already why this nigga remixing history

He didn't remix the story. He told the truth. He was the A&R that brought Cash Money to Universal. If you watch the video he didn't say he brokered the deal. He said they start off with a P&D deal because they had the sales and the business plan. The person who gave them that business plan and brokered the deal was Wendy Day. But he is the one who started the ball rolling by approaching them first. It went through him.

I'm talking about the myth that Baby brokered the deal.

Yeah, that story didn't add up :smh:

This was like mid to late 90's

He said a stretch Hummer, they didn't come out until like 2001 I believe

dog, if u knew anything about Cash Money BEFORE the major deal you would know he aint bullshittin.
baby had a custom stretch hummer, PT Cruiser and Benz back then.
Baby and slim was already multimillionaires years before they went national.
they had a catalog of about 30 releases before universal signed them.
they used to fly around new orleans in a green helicopter with the CM logo on the side.

stretch hummer, PT Cruiser and Benz
No hummers, but a gang of PT cruiser's,lexus stretched that were straight up bullshit.

Who in the fuck stretches a PT cruiser?purple, red and god knows whatever color.

This^^^^^^^^^. Plus in the end Baby and Slim didnt want to pay Wendy Day for working out the deal. Her cut was like $100,000. They told that broad to go fuck herself and refuse to pay her. She ended up suing them dudes to get paid.

I take it with a grain of salt any time some one is telling a story and they throw in some bullshit scene you would have expected to see in "Scarface" (oooo he pulled out a gun, ooooo he had the execs shaking, everybody had bullet proof vests and a gun even the dog)
